I sometimes find it a bit irritating that I am referred to as "the nurse" and ALWAYS as just "the nurse". I find it a bit dehumanizing from time to time. We just had an exchange of emails and when I explained that I could not make the even in question because I would be attending another function the administrator replied saying can we pick a date when the nurse is available. It wasn't a long list of people. If Principal Linda had said can we pick a date when Flare is available nobody would have been confused.
Sigh... if you need me I'm going to hang out with my counterpart:
Yes!!! I'm always "the nurse" but most of the little ones call me "Nurse (insert first name)." I don't mind going by my first name. Some of the parents asked me why I don't go by my last name. I feel it is easier for the students to use my first name and I am not their teacher so it works for me.
Ok this is the second cracker barrel reference...I don't get it. I'm sure it's some pop culture reference and since I only get to watch NHL hockey and SpongeBob and I don't even have a Facebook account I am without a clue...sorry!
Maybe this will help.
Fired Cracker Barrel Manager ‘Brad's Wife' Becomes Internet Meme
An Indiana man, whose wife had worked for Cracker Barrel for several years and was terminated, went public with his displeasure. The thing took on a life of its own, even with people who didn't know those involved. I can't vouch for its accuracy, but an online report by a person who said that he was a coworker said that she had previously been counseled three times about hygiene and she did nothing about it. That didn't stop the tide of cries for justice for "Brad's wife".

Nurse is fine with me. Staff will call over the walkie and say my First name usually. I am the only Nurse, but I do laugh occasionally when on Fridays I wear my casual clothes and kids will say, but the Nurse isn't here, or in her office, while I am standing right in front of them because I am not wearing my scrubs!
