:balloons: hello and welcome to allnurses.com:balloons:

i have no information for you......just wanted to welcome you. good luck in school and enjoy our family. you will love it here.

Thanks siri, love the name.

But seriously nobody has any advice to share with me. Out of all the nurses here......no one had to take the nln rn pre - admission test. :scrying:

I just don't know what to expect.....kinda freaking out about it.

I did take the exam, but that was before the days of computers, too many years ago to count. I found it easy, but I don't remember anything about it.

It is a national exam that is available and not just specific to one school. Schools now are using many other predictors. You used to see it more when there weren't all of the waiting lists, actually none required when I went to school, so that was the major screening exam back then. Now you have to do all of the pre-reqs before you are considered for most programs.

Hi, FoxyRoxy21,:balloons:

Since you just posted for Illinois nurses here, maybe you should start a thread in the General Nursing forum about the NLN pre-admit RN exam. Could generate some responses there. Just a thought.

There used to be tons of info but when I went to do a search nothing appeared.

So....get ahold of the recommended study guide NLN pre-entrance exam 2nd Edition by Mary E. McDonald. In it you will find exactly what the exam consists of.

Pass/Fail is determined by your school. Each school has a percentile that they are looking for to be considered passing. There was verbal/math/science in it. The exam is timed and no you cannot use a calculator.

The verbal consisted of reading comprehension, math was basic algebra and pre-algebra (lots of decimals and fractions). Science was a little bit of everything (Bio, Chem, A&P, Physics).

If you have any further questions that I may ansewer feel free to PM me.

Good luck,

Jess

I actually ordered that last week. It's coming all the way from Flordia, I am sure the Hurricane has something to do with it arriving late. Hopefully I'll receive it by Friday.

Thanks so much for responding to my worries. You guys are so great here!!!!icon10.gif
