I'm Looking For Facilities In The Phoenix Area That Offer Baylor Shifts......anyone Out There Know Of Any, Or Possibly Working This Way? If So, Do You Like It? If So, Why, If Not, Why? I Appreciate Any And All Help.

I worked Baylor in a LTC as a LPN.7A -11P Sat+Sun. Worked 32hrs pd for 40. I liked it. While the days were long ,it was nice to not have to deal with facility politics and such. It was also nice to know that if I had a particularly rough weekend tht all I had to deal with was 2 days of it.

I had to go in during the week sometimes for nurse meetings . Often I would go in to review pts charts because it ws just to busy on the weekends, trying to get meds passed, treatments done, Q shift documentation on skilled pts and taking care of acute situations that came up where drs had to be notified ,orders taken, noted and put on the MARs+TARs. Also was assigned monthly assessments of residents. All this while being interupted constantly by families, patients.

I liked it although its not for everyone. I wanted to be home during w/ week because I have a child in middle school.

On the down side,it seemed that what problems pts had that Baylor nurses would try to fix would be undone the following week by the unit coordinator. This ws a complaint that I heard from other nurses that were long time employees.

Yikes!!!

Sixteen-hour shifts!!!

No way for me.

Baylor is great for people returning to school who still need the fulltime income.

It does mean that if a baylor calls out there are 4 shifts to cover. One way this ws discouraged ws if any of the shifts were missed, the bonus 8hrs pay ws forfeited.
