Can you tell me a little about the nursing program at this
school?
Any info from students will be in, is in, or has been in the
nursing program will be helpful
I'm looking forward to getting accepted for Spring of 2008.
I have to go to one of their information sessions tonight at 6:30.

I graduated in May 2005. The instructors are very helpful and easy to talk to. It is a good program, it will be worth it.

I took my prerequisites there, my huband did nsg program there. I heard the program is more self taught and that the instructors are not all that friendly if you have a just passing average. I know alot of nurses that graduated from that program and not one has a nice thing to say. I went to Becker and ended at Mount Wachusett Comm College in the evening program instructors are great, helpful and treat you like an adult not a child hope this helps not hinders
I definatley didn't have a passing average all the way through the program, that is why I said they were helpful. That is definately hear-say. Guess I am the only one who has nice things to say.

When I called this spring, they told me that they were currently accepting students to begin in Spring 2011!! The person I spoke with said that they accepted people as they met their admissions requirements (not competitive admissions) and that's how far out they were accepting for. I would be interested to hear whether this changed?

No it has always been like this. Sometimes you can get in earlier if someone drops out in the beginning of the semester. I would just take your prereqs while waiting, you can also work on getting your classes for your Bachelor's Degree while you are at it. It took me two years to meet their admission standards. While I was waiting I took all the classes required to get the degree, so I wouldn't be taking anything, but Nursing classes during the program. It seems long, but if you think about it getting everything out of the way helps.

I graduated from QCC in December 2005. I can't think of one bad thing to say about the program. I found the instructors to be incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. We had clinical placements at great facilities (UMass University/Memorial/SVH) and even had an OR rotation which I understand many programs are lacking. And you can't beat the price!! I paid cash for all my pre-reqs and Nursing I and ended up with under $5,000 in student loans from Nursing II-IV. Can't complain about that

QCC is a great school. And yes the wait list is that long. However they have recently changed things around as far as prereqs are concerned.
This change is effective October 1, 2007
If you were accepted into the programs before October 1, 2007 you have nothing to worry about.
Basically according to my orange sheet I got in the mail from QCC here are the changes. They used to require C+s for most of this stuff
TEAS Test
RN:
Math min. grade of B in MAT-099 (Intermediate Algebra) or placement into a higher level math class.
BIO-101 min. grade of B
Min. grade of B in ENG-100 or placement into English 101 or above
TEAS: 70% English, 75% Reading, 50% Math, 55% Science
LPN:
Math min. grade of B in MAT-095 (Beginning Algebra) or placement into a higher level math class.
All and all not too many changes except for the B grade instead of the C+ grade and the TEAs test, which would make me nervous but its probably a ball park test anyway.
I applied in 2006 and got accepted into the 2009 LPN program. At this point it is 2011 for the RN and I think LPN programs.
