Does anyone know when the acceptance letters are sent out for the fall2011 RN program? I didn't make it into UMass which I knew would happen.. so I'm banking on this.

Im so mad at myself for not getting a 75 at my first nursing program.. missed it by a point so they wouldnt let me continue to the 2nd semester :crying2:

hi! I got into the nursing program starting this fall semester. Orientation is on Friday but i misplaced my packet with all the information =( does anyone know what we are suppose to bring to the orientation? or where exactly it is?

Saville Hall rm. 100 at 9AM. I'm not sure what we should bring but perhaps a checkbook and your medical packet if you didn't already mail it in.

I called up and they said it's supposed to go until about 11:30 but if we have to leave early because of a prior commitment it's fine. Representatives from the uniform company will be there so we can try on different sizes but we do not have to buy them that day.

We dont need our physical forms or cpr cert yet..correct? Prob by week before school??

we do not need to bring anything, only ourselves, some money and questions :)

Congrats to you guys! Cant wait to say hi to you in the hallway. I'll be a second year student in September. I just finished my first year; it was a hectic second semester, I must admit. The first semester is only really about basics, focusing on patient safety, some basic medication administration (grams to milligrams calculations) nursing delegations, oxygenation, pain management, nursing diagnosis and psychosocial interventions.

I know they do this at some schools and was wondering- do they kick people out after first est? Because there was SO many people at orientation...with that many students, its impossible to learn anything. For me anyway.

You mean do they kick you out after the first exam? No, they would advise you to drop the class if your average was 55 after two exams so that you dont risk losing 100% of your tuition in addition to being kicked out at the end of the year if you dont score a 73 average. The class will be divided in to sections, with the first section starting at 8am to 10am and the second section starting at 11am to 1pm. The labs times are even more flexible; Labs are on Fridays with two hour blocks, starting at 8am and ending a 3pm. So dont worry about too many people being at orientation. Good luck.

Labs are only on Fridays? The paper we got said they're on tues thurs and Fridays... don't uh bags to go twice a week for first month? This is Di confusing and really messing with my sons daycare!!!

Yes, you may have labs at least twice a week until you start clinicals, once a week, in October, but that's about it. And like I said, the times are divided in two-hour blocks, two or three times a day. I wouldn't worry too much about the schedule because they try really hard to accomodate everyone, knowing that most students have to either work or are tied up in tight family schedules. Lastly, you'll be given an opportunity to make up for few missed labs. I hope this helps.

Good luck to those starting out this fall, I hope you post about your experiences :D

I called the school today and was told that lab will be on tues or thursday but will always be on fridays. then clinical will replace that tuesday or thursday lab in october. i still have not received my uniforms but was told it will ship probably next week.
