Does anyone know when the acceptance letters are sent out for the fall2011 RN program? I didn't make it into UMass which I knew would happen.. so I'm banking on this.
Im so mad at myself for not getting a 75 at my first nursing program.. missed it by a point so they wouldnt let me continue to the 2nd semester
Congrats to you guys! Cant wait to say hi to you in the hallway. I'll be a second year student in September. I just finished my first year; it was a hectic second semester, I must admit. The first semester is only really about basics, focusing on patient safety, some basic medication administration (grams to milligrams calculations) nursing delegations, oxygenation, pain management, nursing diagnosis and psychosocial interventions.
You mean do they kick you out after the first exam? No, they would advise you to drop the class if your average was 55 after two exams so that you dont risk losing 100% of your tuition in addition to being kicked out at the end of the year if you dont score a 73 average. The class will be divided in to sections, with the first section starting at 8am to 10am and the second section starting at 11am to 1pm. The labs times are even more flexible; Labs are on Fridays with two hour blocks, starting at 8am and ending a 3pm. So dont worry about too many people being at orientation. Good luck.
Yes, you may have labs at least twice a week until you start clinicals, once a week, in October, but that's about it. And like I said, the times are divided in two-hour blocks, two or three times a day. I wouldn't worry too much about the schedule because they try really hard to accomodate everyone, knowing that most students have to either work or are tied up in tight family schedules. Lastly, you'll be given an opportunity to make up for few missed labs. I hope this helps.
