Quick question for Army nurses

Published

I'm an enlisted person in the Army, but I'm about to start the AECP and become an Army nurse. My supervisor is working on my NCOER, and in the block where it says what positions you should be considered for, he wants to put my possible positions as a 2LT nurse. So my question is, what are some position titles that a 2LT nurse might have? Corresponding enlisted job titles might be Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Musical Support Team Leader (I'm in the band), Supply Sergeant, etc. THANKS in advance!

Congrats on your selection for AECP.

Your NCOER should only reflect NCO positions with higher responsibilities than your current job. Once you become an officer, that NCOER doesn't count for anything, but in the unfortunate event that you don't make it through nursing school, that last NCOER may get you your next job, promotion or assignment.

Good luck.

Well, I definitely see your point, but my supervisor disagrees and still wants some 2LT job titles.

Your NCOER needs to be filled out as if your are moving forward in the enlisted core. Unfortunately the Army does not see AECP as an automatic 2LT advancement for you must get through nursing school and your NCLEX first. You will still have at least two DA 1059-1's to fill out while your are in school to take the place of your NCOER your NCOER needs to read like a normal enlisted NCOER and if you have a change of rater NCOER before you start school the same format pertains to that.

its in the reg.. he can write it and it should get kicked back by your 1SG or SGM, its a good thing that every 2LT isn't able to do whatever they want ;)

but... it would be helpful as a SSG that you provide some potential jobs within your NCO progression for him to look at.

My NCOIC tried to do the same, he is just trying to help you out. if you already adviced him, then Let him submit it to the CSM it will be returned with proper corrections. Jarnes is correct also when he said that your NCOER is not worth anything after you are commisioned. You do want a good NCOER, bacause people do fail nursing school.
