Quick! Need GPA breakdown?

Published

I can't remember how GPA's are broken down. I have not been in school for awhile. I know a 4.0 is an A, but what are the other breakdowns for B, C, etc.

What is a 2.5 average?

TIA. :)

Hello,

GPA's are figured this way at my college.

A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0

A students grade point average is determined by dividing the # of credits attepted into the grade points.

A 2.5 would be like a high C. Or a B and a C.

Hope that helps :)

Here is my GPA break down and I am pretty sure all of the schools breakdown.

4.0=A

3.5=AB

3.0=B

2.5=BC

2.0=C

1.5=CD

1.0=D

0.0=F

Hope this helps

You figure the points per credit hour then divide by total

So... if you get a B in bio 1314

you get 3 points for each credit hour which would be 3 x 4 = 12

you figure all classes this way then, divide the total points earned by the total credit hours

so... your semester looks like this:

bio 1314 B 3 x 4 = 12pts

micro 1414 B 3 x 4= 12pts

nurs 1012 A 4 x 2 = 8pts

total points 32 / total hours 10 = 3.2 GPA

the CC I'm at requires a minimum GPA of 2.5 to apply for the RN program- you must have earned at least a C in all pre-reqs. They also award preference points on our application for any classes with a B or more. I'm lucky because they take your newest GPA and I will have earned 16 hours there by the time I apply and right now I have a 4.0. Hope I can keep it up. My old GPA from 14 years ago was a 2.5. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

This really helps. Thanks for the responses! :)

At my school its broken down like:

4.0 A

3.7 A-

3.3 B+

3.0 B

2.7 B-

2.3 C+

2.0 C

1.7 C-

1.3 D+

1.0 D

0.7 D-

Anything lower is considered Failing.

Don't stress too hard - I got into Columbia with no "official" GPA, since my school was mostly pass/fail with only a few graded classes. The classes I did get grades in averaged to about 3.17

Thanks so much for your post. I'm working at NYPres-Columbia in the NICU (I start next week!!) and am interested in the WHNP track at Columbia. Any advice? Thanks a bunch again for you confidence-put my mind at ease:)
