Quick! Need GPA breakdown?
I can't remember how GPA's are broken down. I have not been in school for awhile. I know a 4.0 is an A, but what are the other breakdowns for B, C, etc. What is a 2.5 average? TIA. :)

Gen. Psych in Summer, too hard?
I am thinking of taking General Psychology this summer - it meets for 6 weeks, 4 nights a week, 2 hours a night. Do you think this will be too hard to do in that short time? I have heard it will be a lot of reading and I am wondering if I will have to read several chapters every night to prepare for the next class since it is the very next day and accelereated. I am not sure if I can do it since I work full time. Has anyone else done this? Do you find it to help you to get it out of the way faster, or did your grades suffer because of the fast pace? Thanks! P.S. My husband and I are also moving into a new apartment in the middle of all of this! Yikes!

Volunteer work
I am also in a totally different field, I am a legal secretary. I am going to volunteer to try to help see if nursing is really for me. However, you have just given me a little bit of new perspective. A little bit of wanting to be a nurse is about the money, but honestly, I just want more satisfaction and rewards out of my career. But maybe I can find my purpose and the satisfaction of helping others outside of my career by keeping my full time job and then offering my time helping others.

Volunteer work
WOW Tessa! It sounds like an amazing experience and opportunity that you have found. It sounds like you have a gift and will be able to share your experiences to help comfort these patients, as well as gain knowledge for your future career as a nurse. So much of the time we all take and take and take and never give back. You are doing an amazing thing. Keep up the good work! I go on Tuesday for my orientation at UCLA Santa Monica. I'll let you know how it goes!

Tessa - thanks for your kind words. :) Where are you planning on going to school?

Volunteer work
Tessa - I am thinking of doing the same thing. I am in West Los Angeles. I just started back to school this semester after almost 10 years out of school. I am taking Chemistry, which is a little tough. I am still trying to decide on if Nursing is for me. I am a legal secretary now and I make really good money, but just not something I want to do for the rest of my life. I thought volunteering would give me a good idea if nursing is for me, and more importantly, if I can hack it. I am going to sign up with UCLA hosptial in Santa Monica. They are a teaching hospital and have a volunteer program for students. They give orientation, TB tests, etc. They do, however, require a 1 year commitment with 4 hours a week. Will be ok for now since I still have a lot of prereqs to finish..but once I start school, clinicals will be on the weekends and I will still be working full time. Good luck volunteering. Let me know how it goes. :)
