Questions about NCLEX

Published

Hi. First of all, I will say I am NOT a nurse.

For discussion's sake, let's say I am a nurse.

My first question is regarding the Pearson VUE testing center. So after i graduate nursing etc.. do i just go there with my diploma in hand? do i just bring it there and they let me take the test?

Also, what does my school do to help me? Does pearson VUE testing center need to call the school, etc to verify my diploma?

What if I bring my diploma to California and take my NCLEX exam here? Does the NCLEX testing center just let me take the NCLEX? Does my school have to call or coordinate somehow with the NCLEX review center?

Basically, the whole essence of my question is:

Where do the papers and information regarding my studies, clinic hours, etc. go and how does the Pearson VUE KNOW I finished nursing legitimately? How does California testing center know this guy all the way from the Philippines is really a nurse and not just carrying a fake diploma?

By the way I have a u.s social security number and i am legal to work here in the united states on a work permit.

You apply to the Board of Nursing for licensure, in your case California. They will direct you how to have your credentials evaluated. Once qualified you will get permission to sit for the NCLEX which is part of licensing process . The permission will tell you where the testing sites are for you. The process is the same whether you are in the USA or not. Since you have a SSN you will be issued a license.

You have to apply to the state first and meet requirements as well as pay any fees. As far as I am aware docs generally have to go direct from school of nursing unless you have them in a separate envelope with the school stamp across the seal of the envelope so indicate no tampering. Fees are here and for initial application you are looking at $150 http://www.rn.ca.gov/about_us/fees.shtml#apps

Moved to the international forum as nothing to do with nursing in the Philippines
