I see lots of posts about passing or failing with 75 questions, just curious what the stats are. I would like to think that nursing school prepares us enough that those who get 75 are mostly passing?
I found out today that I passed the NCLEX with 75 questions. Once the computer shut off at 75, I knew I had passed. The reason for my confidence? My instructor, who happens to help write some of these questions, told my class that if you got 75 questions, you have a 95% chance of passing the NCLEX. This means that 5 out of 100 people will fail and 95 people will pass when the computer shuts off at 75 questions. This test runs on an algorithm, so if you answer a little more than 50 percent of the 'hard' questions correct (vs the easy or moderate questions), then you have proven your 'competence' and you will pass. Just remember, every one gets about half right/wrong (algorithm), but the trick is to get a little more than half of the tougher questions correct. Also, spend 1/3 of your time studying from the review book and the other 2/3 answering actual questions (3,000 are recommended prior to testing). Good luck, you WILL get through this!! Be confident in your knowledge and apply it! I hope this helps.
3 hours after NCLEX...
My heart is still beating out of my chest and it has been 3 hours since the exam! I also still feel like I wonna throw up! I have read several posts and feel like alot of you did... I got 75Q and it cut off... not a single math prob lots of SATA questions and I really honestly can't say how many I may have gotten right... just that I sat behind the computer praying for Help... came back to try and look up question and found out that I know I answered those wrong. Told my husband I am gonna have to be knocked out for the next 48:/ graduated May 14 and have been doing Kapalan but had a prob getting it to work like it was supposed to online but all that doesn't matter now... I can't stop freaking out! I am sooooo worried.
So..I just found out earlier today that I PASSED!!! (God is great everytime!!). I took the NCLEX on Monday and the computer shut off at 75 questions. By the time I got to the car, I could not remember any more than like 5 specific questions asked. I was certain that I had failed it, especially after coming on here and reading the stories about people who had failed in 75 questions and how people say that math questions arent a good sign. Never in my life had I been so uncertain about something. The 48 hour wait was the worse days of my life!! I could not sleep, could not focus, I would have nightmares about failing and what I would tell everyone. It was horrible, I was a wreck and my husband felt it too. But earlier, I paid for the quick results and there it was, PASS under my name! I've come to realize that there is no way to predict based on your questions or feelings how well or bad you did. I had 3 math questions, maybe like 10 SATA, 4 medications, and lots of infection control/"who do you see first in the ED"/"who do you call back first"/delegation.
After this experience I will NEVER let my license expire, bc I NEVER want to go through this again!! LOL
Good luck to Everyone and I'm sure you did great!

Hang in there:) and stop looking up questions!! That will only make things worse. and you only remember the ones you got wrong because those are the ones that stick in your head. the ones you got right you cant remember!!
I know how you feel. The wait is complete torture.
I have been reading about people doing the "pearson trick", trying to re register for a retake of the nclex, and if it lets you get to the payment screen, it means you failed? But if it wont let you re register, it means you passed? I KNOW I would have been doing that the second I got home. Why dont you try it and see what happens?? And let us know!!
:bugeyes:Well I tried it but it gave me a message that records show I had recently registered to take the test to contact whoever if I needed futher assistance. I don't know what to think?. Anybody ever done this to find out otherwise that you know of? I am going to try and stay busy. I have also tried checking the BON to see if it will pop up before 48 hours. I saw where some people were able to find out there in 24. I'll let you know. Thanks for the encouraging words.
