well I am still waiting for my results.BUt I have a question for you guys.DUring the test there were a lot of priority questions.I went on another message board and was told that you help the least critical pt first.Well I still think in the hospi it would be the most critical. For ex:there were alot of questions where it was prioritizeed.I usually chose either the very young or very old-also based on their dx.

Oh my gosh, I am so nervous.I also kept on gettig a lot of those new format quetions-slect all that apply and a few fill in the blanks. Okay deep breath.....

Welcome to the forum!

I have about every NCLEX-PN book there is out there. BUT, there are two in particular that I personally think are great.

1) Saunders Edition 2 Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-PN Examination. It has small amounts of lecture and comprensive material on EVERY subject, numerous questions at the end of each chapter which also have rationales to the answers. Also comes with a CD-ROM with 3,000 practice questions in it. The CD-ROM is neat because you can take quizes on any subject of your choice or simulated NCLEX exams with 150 questions or so. It also offers you a study session on the disk.

2) NCLEX-PN 250 New-Format Questions by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. Although this book is smaller in size, it REALLY helps you understand the new fill-in-the blank, select all that appy, and diagram questions that are now on the NCLEX.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Tara

What type of visa will you have to work with? You will not be able to get a visa to work as an LPN in the US on your own, only via a spouse. Not sure if you are aware of this.

You need to apply to a state Board of Nursing first, then after they approve your credentials, they will permit you to take the NCLEX-PN exam, but you may run into some difficulties with some states as well. Then you can write the exam once you get approval, yo umust have that to be able to sit for the exam.

I like Saunders for everything, they do the best job of making you understand things.

If you are going to take the exam in December, when do you graduate from your nursing program? You may wish to check out getting a nurse externship or nurse tech position first, as they may actually give you more opportunity to practice your skills that you will use as an RN.

Ill be graduating as an RN in Fall.I was actually working as a NT in L and D.I still am every other Sat.But they dont hire LVNS and I am getting paid 13 as a tech and 18 as an LVN.I just wanted to have something to fall back on.

Are you working that many hours that it will make a significant difference?

And you would have to leave the L&D area...............

What are your opportunities as an LPN in your area? Is your facility hiring new grad LPNS? In some areas you would be limited to assisted living or LTC.

Most new grads like to work in hospital type settings.

well besides working as a nt in l and d,I am working as an LVN at a LTC.Pay difference is big..At hospitals here LVN's are not allowed to work in L and D and LVN's in hospitals start off at 14.50/hr-not much. The hospitals here dont even hire LVNs in pedi settings its just RN.s.I would probably be stuck at med surg area in a hospital and an LVN. I talked to the DON at L and D in the hospital I work at and she said she wants to keep me as a tech there since LVNs cant work on the unit.BUt I feel like a CNA there and get treated as one.I am working as a charge nurse at a LTC-LVN of course but I am getting good experience
