Has anyone gone to Georgia Perimeter college for nursing? If so what are the clinicals like? And do I have to have a clinical and every field of nursing or just the specialty I choose? I'm moslty interested in OB and womens healt and things of that nature and not too curious about the others.
I finished my pre-reqs before I started the program which I recommend. You can take 3 classes at a time except for A&P 1-2 and Micro which you have to taken in order. I got a job at a local hospital just working weekends/prn at the end of my second semester and during the summer. Definately get the NET out of the way and get the study guide for it ISBN: 0-967544645. Another book that was awesome and helpful was Test Success:Test Taking Techniques for Beginning Nursing Students ISBN: 13-978-0-8-36-1162-7. These are some helpful tools to get you started. Good luck.
I had to retake all of the science b/c it had been more than 6 years since I had taken them-bummer! But I needed the refresher. Also, I I had been to school years before so there were just a few classes that I had to take to meet the requirements. The way they do the NET now is different than the way they did it when I took it. You have to sign up for it online and not sure if there is cost or not and I believe you can take it more than once and they will take the best score. I scored average...can't remember. The best person to ask is the Administrative Coordinator, she is in charge of that there but again, the info is on the web-site.
I did work full-time while taking my prerequisites. The downfall to this was that it took me a little over 2 years to complete them. I took all of mine at GPC when I moved down here and got started with college. At the beginning of the nursing program though, I quit working all together. Hope this helps a little.
I took mine full-time but I also took some at KSU towards my BSN because I had applied there as well. However, I got accepted into GPC first. It took me less than 1-1/2 years going full time not working. Just look at the curriculum and figure out which classes to start with and check them off as you go keeping in mind which classes you have to have taken when you apply and when you start.
Yes, most all of the GPC campuses offer at least some of the prerequisites that are required for the nursing program. The best way to figure it all out is to go to the GPC website and do a schedule search and see which classes are offered on which campuses. I took my prerequisites in 2004-2006 and was at every campus at least once and also took online classes. Please PM or email me if you have any other questions. Good luck to you and God bless.
