Hello,
I've been looking through ads for DaVita and Fresenius. On the DaVita site there are several RN openings, but only a few say WILLING TO TRAIN. Within those ads it says they will train you 8-12 weeks and try to place you afterwards but you must be willing to travel during and after orientation. The other ads that dont have WILLING TO TRAIN attatched to them say nothing about the training or traveling.
Does this mean as an RN with no hemo experience at all, I should apply to the willing to train ads? Why are those the only ones that are requiring travel? Are the other ones expecting you to be already trained (even though there is no mention of experience required). Im confused at the difference in ads on the same site (the official davita site).
For the Fresenius ads it has a requirement of counting controlled substances. I thought dialysis clinics are narcotic free???? Im looking for a recovery friendly atmosphere and am unable to have access to narcotics per my BON contract and I've heard both of these companies fit that bill. What are the controlled substances that would have to be counted and could a nurse work there without having to be in the position of HAVING to have access to the CS's?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

I'm a nephrology APRN and I work in multiple Fresenius and Davita outpt chronic hemodialysis units. None of them have any narcotics. Antibiotics, phosphorous binders, calcitriol, thats pretty much it.
Both companies seem very recovery friendly. I personally know at least four RNs (one who is in management) that have been or are in recovery.
I say go ahead and apply.

I have applied with both companies and have had no luck. Should I call each place to check on my applications or is there someone specific to call?

Honey. You have the people at this site and you obviously have probational stips where you can work. It is hard, but dry your tears and put your shoulders back and call them to let you know you are ready to work. Once I finally got that first job I started working off my probation quickly. You can do it! ((((((hugs))))))
