What is realistic to expect of yourself in the lpn to rn program? How often do people take exams? One a month? Every other month? Thanks

In my RN program its every week, sometimes in more than one class. FWIW I don't go to Excelsior, though I do have online classes. Why would exams only be every month in any school?

I started out taking exams once every 2 months, then once a month and now I try to shoot for once every 2 weeks (of INTENSIVE studying). It's all about your learning pace just read a post earlier where someone said they took 2 exams per week; I don't have the mental power for that! lol.. Good luck..

I agree with natnat, it all depends on you. How often you study and when you feel ready to take the test. I just started studying for health safety and I plan to test at the end of the month. I hope to test every month to two months, depending on much I study. Excelsior says to study just as you would at a traditional college, for me thats 2 hrs a day. When you finish will depend on you also. Everyone I talk says it takes them a year and a half. Hope this helps.
Because Excelsior has exams you study for and test at your own pace. I was wondering if taking one exam a month would be a realistic expectation for me.

Yep, it all depends on you, your motivation, and whatever else you have going on in your life. I had some time off this Summer, so I finished all of the nursing exams within a 6 week period. So, I think one exam a month is totally doable. Good luck!

I've done one a month while working full time (36) hrs, and part time a few hours a week. It's just me and the hubby, so I have little distraction. If you can do 8-10 hrs a week of studying, once a month is totally doable

I started EC in February 2012 and hope to be ready for the CPNE this January. I test as quickly as I felt ready; most times within 2 to 3 weeks.
