Question about Preceptorship

Hey Everyone!

Where would you recommend doing a Preceptorship? Long-term I probably want to be an NP in an outpatient but know I need a lot of experience. I want to challenge myself while I'm preceptoring so just wondering it anyone has recommendations!

Thanks!

You can never go wrong with med/surg. It will expose you to a variety of patients.

I always tell students that I see on the floor to avoid doing a medsurg preceptorship since you will be doing a lot of it in school. I personally recommend a critical care (ICU/ED, etc) unit.

Ok great! I was actually leaning towards ED/ICU. Would you recommend one over the other?

A specialty that you have an interest in, but got little exposure during nursing school.
