Nursing Students General Students

Published

Hi. I'm 22 years old (as of this past August) and just started nursing school. I originally attended college for 2 years, 4 years ago & did prereqs then life happened & I had to take 2 years off from school and here I am. All my high school classmates already graduated undergrad or some are graduating this year I think. I will graduate in approx 3 years from a BSN program. I feel like such a loser. Also all my friends & old classmates are getting married or are engaged. I'm still very single. Should I be worried?

Sounds like you have a bad case of FOMO. Try not to focus on how great everyone's lives appear to be on the surface (everyone always posts about how great things are going on Facebook and Instagram) and focus on how you're improving yourself and your life by completing this degree. I'm one of several older students in my class (30 y/o) -- "alternative" students are becoming more prevalent in undergrad programs, and being "alternative" doesn't make us losers. We just took a little more time getting to the finish line, that's all. Good luck, and keep going!
