Question about making it easier to find job for a new graduates

Nurses New Nurse

Published

I am currently in nursing school and hope to graduate next year. I resently got a job as a nurse tech, and I'm hoping to transition into a RN position when I graduate and get licensed. I wanted to know if having a job in health care made it any easier to get a RN job or was it just as hard with multiple applications and no response?

Thanks

It definitely helped me, as did doing really well in school. Working in LTC, home health, and a M/S floor as an aide is definitely helping me in my RN job.

I think regardless it will help you as a nurse, whether or not it will help you as a nurse will depend on your facility you work (whether they are hiring) , the general job market area, and your job performance as a tech. Good luck!

It think it helps the most I'd you plan on working in the same hospital after you graduate. I had two years of experience as a CNA but moved out of state after graduation. I had to put in a lot of applications before I got a call back.

I work at the local hospital as an aide, with the hopes of working there when I finished. I have 6 yrs experience in health care. I was offered a position at a different hospital and most of my classmates without experience had jobs before me.
