Question about lpn jobs

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi everyone! I'm in my last PN class now and I was wondering if someone can clarify some things for me. First of all is it okay to start looking for jobs even though I haven't taken NCLEX yet? I know that me and my classmates are in the dark about his and I thought someone could help. And second is it almost impossible to find a job outside of a nursing home for an LPN. I really wanna work in a hospital or urgent care center and I just wanted to know is that realistic. Thanks a lot!:balloons:

It is possible, usually hospitals or other health care facilities want someone with experience, but are always willing to mold new grads, in fact speaking from someone with experience I highly recommend that you seek employment in hospitals because you can get a lot of experience and learn a more skills. Hospitals usually have regular classes and training that you will not fine in some nursing homes. just my thoughts...and it is good that you research places of employment and collect references for new grad they seek out school references and sometimes documents of different clinical experiences such as hours of OB, Peds etc...

Thanks....I am just starting to get so discouraged. Everytime I see a job offer it is of course always for an RN. I live in Northwest Indiana and it seems like none of the hospitals here want LPN'S. Or of course they want experience but how can you get experience if nobody will give you a chance.

If you aren't able to get a job in a hospital, you should have no problem getting one at an Urgent Care Center, most like to staff themselves with mostly LPN's and CMA's.
