working as a nurse for the army
It depends if you want to be a soldier and work as a nurse you have to join you get a bonus and student loan payoff too. As a civilian nurse you have to apply in the military instalation close to you or VA hospital (veterans) and also get your student loan pay not a bonus. By the way civilian pay pretty good too plus benefits.

Should I work nights or weekends?
I worked weekends for years Saturday night 7p to 7a and Sunday night 7p to 7a I love it I have three kids and a husband and it gave me plenty of time for all the family activities and school and if you need time off just request or change with another nurse, and the most important all the facility drama and patient drama happen during the day at night all you hear is the story. MY advise do not try to do too much at first enjoy the baby because they grow fast.

Would you be a patient at your place of employment?
I am working on getting a job in the clinic where I am a patient and thought about this too I really think is best to change clinic because co worker can look into your personal file, and I feel all that is private beside it could be uncomfortable.

Recent LPN Graduate Seeking Clarification on Excelsior
They took all my previuos credits I will advise also that you send the transcrip you do not need to be register for that, also know that excelsior is changing the program effective October 1,2007 so if you are not officially register you would have to do a lot more extra classes so, please reasearch is good but, now you need to act and quick. good luck to you

Question about lpn jobs
It is possible, usually hospitals or other health care facilities want someone with experience, but are always willing to mold new grads, in fact speaking from someone with experience I highly recommend that you seek employment in hospitals because you can get a lot of experience and learn a more skills. Hospitals usually have regular classes and training that you will not fine in some nursing homes. just my thoughts...and it is good that you research places of employment and collect references for new grad they seek out school references and sometimes documents of different clinical experiences such as hours of OB, Peds etc...

RN vs. LPN: Need lot's of help, please. LONG!
I was in a situation like yours and chose the RN program you know more $$ etc. but had to withdrawn too far could not meet with the study group, car maintenance and even cost me my marriage I did the LPN close to home 7 yr now I am doing RN on line. With LPN you have good choices depending on where you apply you can work in the ER but no usually in ICU. If you chose the RN path the drive eventually get to you tired can even study or focus, rush to get home, stress and financially can be a problem. As LPN you can then work on you RN later of course the choice is yours. Good luck with your decision.

LVN...Returning to work after 2 1/2 years
I don't think you are going to have a problem, but make sure you have at least three references, and most important review your nursing books as a refresher practice your skills with a doll or someone just so that you are able to recall them faster, review side effect and med. calculations and so on. I am also an LPN and been out of work for three months because of military reasons, and I am noticing a lot of jobs are now been posted on line and with nurses recruiters. good luck!!!

Have a question about bad credit
I recently apply for a job at the only hospital in this small town, and was giving a thick package to fill among them a paper to inquire about my credit history not only they are able to do that, but also a criminal background check, I send everything, but feel uncomfortable about that particular paper just because it is personal. I often wonder if it is done to ensure that if you are in debt you don't steal $$ or just for mgmt to discuss during lunch, anyway most facilities do not usually ask about it.

What's worst than getting rejected? I know!
I am glad I did not read this until now because it was like a horror movie just waiting for the end. Good luck in school, and please do not let the financial situation steal your focus. Congratulations!!!
