Question about clinical/theory hours for moving to the States

Published

Hi all

I have a question. I am currently coming to the end of my first year of Adult Nurse training. So far my placements have included Infection Unit (7 weeks), Community (7 weeks) and presently on Care of The Elderly (7 weeks).

In my Communtiy placement I dealt mainly with children under the age of 5, i.e doing baby clinics, baby imms, health checks etc.

The current placement I am on has many people suffering from Dementia, Alzheimers, Depression etc.

How do you know if this would count towards paeds theory/clinical hours, or Mental Health. Surely it counts for something.

I am hoping to do Forensic Nursing in the future and the U.S seems to be the way to go for this.

My other placements are as follows:

Orthopaedics Elective Surgery (8 weeks)

Geriatric Assessment Unit (7 weeks)

Ear Nose and Throat Surgery (8 weeks)

Accident and Emergency (12 weeks)

Community (12 weeks)

I can't work out how these people can verify if you haven't done enough of these hours. I definately know I won't get any Obs as only did two days at Maternity.

Any answers would be great.
