Question for California NP's

Published

Hi all!

I am a newly graduated NP awaiting my AANP exam date of June 20th!!! Do I have to wait until I take and pass the exam to apply for licensure and furnishing license?? My school is considered an out of state school so the certification is a requirement to practice in the state, but I wasn't sure if I could start the process beforehand. Thanks!

Based on the BRN website I posted below, it takes at least 3 months for processing APRN applications (it actually shows that they are currently processing applications received in March!). With this information in mind, I would send applications now and hope that you will take the test and pass, and AANP will send your result to the BRN within a time frame that won't delay your processing.

Thank you for this information. I am going to submit the application!!

OP, so just have a question for you. If you had gone to school in CA, would you not need to take boards? If you practiced in the state that you went to school in your degree would be enough? Thanks for the clarification
