Air Force folks please tell me I'm not crazy....
I just kinda take for granted the fact that I know how to wear my ABUs. We get tons of memos about gortex, fleece, watch caps etc so I've never had to refer to the AFI. But today we started our bag drag drills and there was some issue taken over the color socks we should wear. I have searched high and low through just about every AFI supplement on epubs and can find NOTHING about ABUs. Crazy, yes or no?
My socks are not the issued dark green (those are just terrible). Instead I have some brownish-green Smartwool socks that are great and they match my ABUs perfectly. No one has checked my bag yet and I'm not overly concerned, but I'd like to bust out some regs if a certain NCOIC tries to be a smart mouth.
Come on carolinapooh, I know you can come through for me. LOL!
I think Maj Gen Jeanne Holm needs to resurrect and demand uniform modernization, because it's clear that the last time it happened was in 1965 when she oversaw the process! (For the record, the only reason I know this is because I did my presentation on her at COT. I really DID learn something while I was there--useless, but it finally came in handy!)
Uhm, impossible...she just died a couple of months ago... :)I guess the pants are her legacy - THANKS, Jeanne...really....
I know, that's why I said we need to "resurrect" her. However, after giving it more thought, perhaps we need a new set of eyes to take a look at the pants. Preferably someone who knows that pleats on pants are not okay.
Like, oh, I don't know - maybe a WOMAN???
How do you get on the uniform board, anyway? I want to make this a career goal - seriously. Have you seen the Marines' and the Army's women's slacks? They're awesome - they hang from the waist, not the hips. They're much more flattering. They're still made out of serge, but at least they LOOK NICE.
Switching focus back to ribbons and such...can i wear my stuff at COT, I didn't find a specific reg in the "36's"
as follows:
USMC Good con w/star, korean defense service medal, Nat. Def Service medal, Sea Service deployment, Meritorious Unit Commendation w/2 stars, Navy unit Comm w/ star, and Global war on Terr service medal?
If I wait to buy mess dress at COT, when would I have time to buy and alter them since it is required for Oct 18 class?
You may wear your awards on your jacket only. Officers do not wear their ribbons on the shirt of blues. Don't even bother asking. Can wear the nurse badge though.
We were not required mess dress (though I have it and have never worn it.). The people who need uniforms spend after hours times walking to the little store there. There is an alterations there too.
