Quest about pre-reqs?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Do you need to take your pre-reqs at one school or can you take them at different ones?

With a f/t job, I can only take classes on nights and weekends and it would make my life a heck of a lot easier if I could take whatever pre-reqs I could get done at School A, and then the other pre-reqs that aren't offered at School A at School B?

For instance, at School A offers A&P I and II and Chem at night and on weekends. School B doesn't but offers Statistics (which School A doesn't)

I'm just wondering if it won't look good when I do apply to nursing school that I went to more than one school?

Thanks for any help...I know this was a confusing question.

As far as I know you can take your pre-reqs at different schools. When you transfer you send official transcripts from all of the schools you attended and they accept any credits that will transfer based on their criteria.

Yep, as long as your nursing school accepts the transferred credits, it shouldn't matter where you took them. I took several of my prereqs with my BA and finished them at the local CC and am now at a 3rd school, and they accepted all my transfer credits.

I have taken pre-reqs at three different schools and I was accepted into a program! However, I have read that some schools want you to take a certain amount of their courses. So your best bet is to talk to an Academic Adviser at the school or schools you wish to attend. Find out what their policy is regarding taking courses elsewhere and taking specific courses at specific schools. This is what I did and I had no trouble transferring credits. Good luck. :wink2:

As long as the school is accredited I do not think they can disallow you this choice. I took my pre-reqs at two different colleges and am in the nursing program of a third. No problems.
