Hi,
I'm a licensed nurse in Quebec and I live in Vermont (really close to the border!). I've been working with CGFNS and VT bord of nursing to get licensed in Vermont for a year and a half now, and I am finally at the stage where I am asked to register for the NCLEX.
In the registration form, they ask me where I graduated. For countries, Canada is listed as a choice. Great. But then Quebec doesn't exist as a province? Also, in their list of program code for North America, there is no code provided for the entire province of Quebec. I am denied registration because of this issue. I called Pearson Vue (registration people), NCSBN, Vermont Board of Nursing and Quebec's board of nurses, they ALL tell me to ask somebody else, playing ping-pong with me.
I can't believe I'm the first Quebec nurse to go through this. Anybody has had this issue before?
Thanks for your help!

I didn't try to transfer my RN license to Quebec, but will look into it again. But since I passed the OIIQ, and have to do the French OQLF, I don't think they'll accept it, since the language is what they're looking for from my end, and that is something I'm struggling with.
Ahhh kk I understand. I'm a Quebec graduate from a cegep nursing program who wrote the NCLEX through BC, passed and then was given a licence through the BC route (I did all this in 2017). I then transferred my licence to Ontario and was looking for job there and my husband then notified me we were moving back to Quebec. So I transferred my Ontario licence to Quebec. I don't have to do the French language exam however because I was born and raised in Quebec this passed the MEQ exam in high school. I wish Quebec would just do what the rest of Canada is doing because this system is super confusing.

So you were able to write the NCLEX in BC with just your DEC from cégep? Our teachers have told us that's it's impossible and we have to go to McGill to do the BNI to be able to practice anywhere else as the DEC is not recognized

So did you successfully get your license in Minnesota? I am also a DEC student and considering this.
