Are you still considered a fully qualified air force nurse if your 6 months nursing experience was in 2009 and you are currently not working? If not, will the AF have you go to NTP?

I believe you would still have to go to NTP... if I'm not mistaken. The 6 months that you worked would only be considered 3 months for the military.. This is the information I got since I'm currently in the process as well. I hope that helped somehow.. Good luck!!!
Huh? I was told by my recruiter that if you have 6 months experience you would NOT have to do NTP. But she wasn't sure since I am not currently working if it still counts.... Good luck to you too! :)

If you only have 6 months experience NTP is not a bad thing, especially if you have not worked since 2009.
I totally agree. I would love to go to NTP for the training. I just got the impression that it makes it more competitive to get in AF if I need to go to NTP.

Hey Mommy of 2,
Did you talk to TSgt Armstrong?
I have 3 and 1/2 yrs of med/sug experience and my recruiter told me that they will count as 1yr and 10months.
Hey Madamrose,
Yes thats who I talked to. I am currently not working and I only have 6 months experience. Just wanted to know where that puts me. With the other new grads or not?

To clarify, 6 months nursing experience will count as 3 months toward your rank and promotion. However, to be qualified, six months is all your need. As to whether that will count from that long ago, I don't know. I would really think they would want you to go to NTP for the sake of getting back in the swing of things. That last part is my opinion, but the rest is gospel as far as I was told.
I'm not sure if you would be qualified or not with your 6 months of experience, but I dont think that NTP would be bad. It will help you get your skills back since you havent worked since 2009. I think you said something about it being a little bit harder to join if you have to go to NTP? I dont know if that's true because there are people who are joining fresh out of college and getting accepted from what I have read on this forum.

Thanks for that. It was encouraging.
