PVAMU Spring 2016

Published

Hi! I wanted to start a thread for anyone who is applying to PV's CON for the Spring of 2016! The deadline is fast approaching, and I don't see a thread anywhere for this term. Hope I get to meet some of you guys through here, and we can go through this application process together! :)

As for me, I just submitted my application and sent my transcripts to the main University. I am getting everything together to turn in my application in person, all I am really needing is my letters of recommendation, and my HESI score (which I take this coming Monday! :/ )

Hope to hear from you guys soon,

Valerie

@valxoxo7 I wasn't really considering this program until recently and the last time I did volunteering was probably 3 yrs ago back when I was in high school. I have basically everything else that's needed from the checklist except for the recommendation letter from somewhere I've done community service. Do you know if it's going to be pointless to end up paying for and sending my application without that one letter?

I just use my employer as a reference. I work for an optometrist so I figured that might counts toward the requirement. How do you guys check the status of the nursing application?

@gmar3 why don't you try volunteering on a weekend for like the Houston Food Bank or Meals on Wheels? I'm sure if you talk to someone there, they can write you a letter ☺️ I know the letters are "required", so I wouldn't apply without the 1 letter if i were you. I know the deadline is close but you still have a month left! 😊

@147nataly, well I got a log-in and password e mailed to me when I applied to the main college but it doesn't work and I e mailed them for help and haven't heard anything back, so I'm not sure if we can check through that :/ or not

I had my mentor write me one and a alumni from a nursing school who works at the VA now.

I ended up calling to ask about the recommendation letter and the lady told me that one does have to be from a professor and the other can just be a personal recommendation from anybody else not necessarily from somewhere you have volunteered. So yeah if you send one from an employer that works too.

Yeah I figured. They seem to be relaxed with the application. I noticed that we don't have to write an essay this time around and I even confirmed it with them.

Have you guys turned in your apps yet ?

Hi guys I'm currently getting my stuff together to apply. I have a question though. Do we have to take Philosophy or Ethics?

I took Intro to Philosophy and they said that was fine... :) Not sure about taking Ethics instead, but I know philosophy counts..

Hi guys I'm applying to PVAMU as well! I'm 17 & just graduated from high school í ½í¸Š

I was so confused on whether ethics or philosophy was the required course....does anyone know because I've taken philosophy and I signed up for ethics but I don't want to take it if I don't need it!

I just looked at the requirements it's either Ethics OR philosophy, not both ;)

If you have any questions you can always e mail them, they responded to my e mail the same day!

That info is on the Generic BSN admissions page on their website.
