I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for PVAMU CON 2011 hopefulls! As you will see, I have a lot of questions and concerns! I am at Texas Southern University and I am applying for spring 2011. My science, core, and overall GPA's are above a 3.5 and i have taking the HESI and recieved 84 on math and grammar, 85 on reading comp, but i missed the A&P by 3pts.. i made a 72:mad:! But it was b/c i was taking the exam for UT and they require the vocab and i before i began the A&P section I was crying b/c i failed the vocab section.. i was ******! Anyways, any adive on what to study for the vocab section or A&P section (even though i found it somewhat easy)? I hope this thread will help us in the long run! :)
And if there is already a thread for sorry didnt find it!
Hung:Thank you sooooo much for your response! I'll definitely keep them in mind, and I'm sure it will help all of us. And very impressive grades , I think for Nursing school :)
..Good Luck in your program!
yeah I know, its harder than when I went to UH for sure, I made mostly A's when taking my pre-req but I have to study a little harder in Nursing school.
Hey Hung, I know reading is required but is there any sections you ever had to focus on besides just reading the entire section of the required lectures? Also, when you study are you reviewing notes from the readings or do you reread the sections?
Yes there are sections from the book that aren't on lecture you have to read. I compare all my notes, from lecture notes that I take in class to the ones from my own reading, I do the same when I am studying. As you re-read the book make sure you understand the materials and concepts, do not just read to memorize, trust me you won't do well on the test if you're just reading facts from the book.
I attend PV nursing school! Hard program but very doable!!! I love it! Sem 1 was different than being at main campus (taking pre-reqs)! I actually have a higher GPA in nursing school than when I worked on my Psych degree! I guess it has to do with devoting more time to actually studying, not cramming, go to classes everyday, taking notes! Its different reading and understanding for application rather than knowledge!!!
In Semester 1, I actually purchased my shoes from Wal-Mart. Just cheap, no name white leather shoes! They worked and after they were approved by the faulty, everyone in my clinical group went and got them! (Link is at the bottom) I am on a budget and I paid $16 for them as opposed to the $60-$120 I knew some people had dished out!!! I did kind of splurge (LOL) and buy the Nurse mate compression hose for $9.95 though! They help keep the blood flowing!!
For you guys who need advice on what to purchase and where to get it cheap, send me a PM or just ask! I am the queen of budgeting!!!
drdmbrn lol i purchased those shoes for work last year, but in black. i was thinking of gettin them again, as a last resort. how do they feel on your feet during clinicals? they felt okay at work, but i was never standing on my feet for 10+ hrs a day.
another question: what did yall think of the equipment in the lab bag we are suppose to buy? good quality, useful items?
