PVAMU Spring 2010

Published

Anyone applying to PVAMU CON? I don't hear alot of people talking about it so I wanted to make a thread for any hopefuls out there. I applied to other schools as well but I gave up on them and I think PVAMU is my last chance.

If anyone is attending PVAMU or is applying for Spring 2010 post up your grades I like to see what my chances are. I heard it was first come first served? I applied at the deadline date on October 1 so it really worries me . Anyways here are my grades

University GPA: 3.45

Department GPA: 3.52

Supporting GPA: 3.63

NET scores

Math: 97%

Reading: 64% :banghead:

Specializes in hematology/oncology.

When you apply to the school online keep a copy of your money order reciept for application to main campus. Then wait about a week and apply to the nursing school and give them a copy of your reciept for main campus. Most of the time they move slow and you have to wait to be accepted into main campus first before you can apply to nursing school. So try to keep calling and harrassing them to move you along faster.

Hi everyone,

I am applyiong PVAMU for Spring 11. Any advice? I took the HESI and scored all 85's but I am going to retake it to get 90's. Did any of you take the HESI? If so how did you study for the vocab section? And im very curious to know what your GPA's were when you got accepted all of my GPA's are above a 3.5.

PV just started accepting the Hesi this year so people trying to come in for Spring 11 are the first class to take it.

I took the NET so i'm not really sure if your 85 is good or not but if you think you can take it and make a higher grade then go for it.

As for the GPA, they require a 2.75 and i had a 3.2 and got in so you are in good shape with that.

Just make sure to turn in everything on time.

Good luck!!!

Angel 1990,

Did you take the Chem and PHysics part of the test?

knalimol,

Thank you! that makes me feel better.. hopefully ill be joining you soon! Also can you explain the process after you meet the requirements.. is there an essay, interview, etc?

NAM123,

No, none of the schools I am applying to require the bio, chem, or physics section. Have you taken the exam already?

Angel 1990

First thing you need to do is take your transcript up to the school and meet with the advisor. After she evaluates it, she will tell you what all you need. If you have more than 45 credit hours complete, she'll give you a card and refer you to take the Hesi. The deadline to meet all the requirements and pass the Hesi is September 1st.

When you pass the Hesi, you get the clinical application, submit that with an essay and then wait to see if you got in.

So to answer your question, there is an essay but thats not required until you get the applications for the clinicals.

Also since you have already taking the Hesi, i don't know how that will work. PV CON has to refer you to take the Hesi. My advice, call them and ask them if you would have to re-take it. Also ask what they require on it. They are pretty good on picking up phones.

Good luck :-)

Angel 1990,

I didnt take the HESI yet..what did you think about it? since your thinking to take it again..like what are you planning on studying? what do you recommend reviewing?

-thanks for helping

I got a provisional acceptance about a week or two ago and I turned in my packet last week. Do anyone know when we will get an official acceptance letter?
