Puerto Rico school feedback - thread #2

Wow after 9 years and 1336 posts they closed our thread because it was too long.

The original thread and all the helpful posts can be found here:

https://allnurses.com/international-nursing/puerto-rico-school-28678.html

There are 134 pages in that thread but the last 130 pages were from 2010 and beyond and there is a ton of helpful info in there. Hopefully the current students will continue this thread as I graduate this month. Please try to read that thread at least a little bit before posting your questions here as it is very likely your question has been asked and answered on the other thread more than once.

Good luck on whatever path you choose!

My question is this.

I currently have a Masters in Health Administration and a Bachelors in Speech Therapy. I have not done any sciences for these programs, however, I am thinking of going into the BSN Program at Inter. I hear that I can enter the program and I will be doing the sciences integrated within the program.

If this is true, will I be able to attain my MSN? I am located in Florida. Does anyone know of any MSNs that went to Inter straight off the bat without doing sciences and is now a MSN?

Thanks

Has anyone received a BSN from Inter and gone to work in the states, and then got their MSN in the States after?

Thanks,

Vick

I missed out on starting my first classes at Inter last trimester (which was supposed to be my first trimester also) because my GPA was literally .1 below the required! I did not realize I would be unable to take courses this February until I got my hands on a course booklet. I was also confused why I was given an acceptance letter from the school and then when I got there to sign up for my classes was when they told me my GPA was too low..I have no more general education classes to take. I heard sometimes they may have one first trimester class rarely during February can anyone tell me if this is true? I would hate to just sit around the house for an entire trimester and feel like I am wasting time but I think I might have to.

Oh also I forgot to ask do they ever offer the first nursing classes during the summer? I realize classes are in August but are there summer classes? Thanks :)

Cassandra there are absolutely No beginning nursing classes in the Feb trimester. None at all. The reason it is possible for people to start in Nov is because the people that already have a Bachelors or have completed all their general ed end up starting with the class that do not have a Bachelors already or students that still have GE classes.

There is a set way of taking the classes at La Inter and you can't add extra classes to speed it up which is too bad and there are no classes for you to take in Feb.

You start with Basic Concepts, Pharm, Fundamentals and Fundamentals clinical and NONE of those courses are offered in Feb.

And also none of them are offered in summer. The only official start date is August and the unofficial start date is Nov but it is rare for them to accept Nov start date students. It happens but it's rare.

I think someone on this forum said that the required gpa for the nursing program is a 2.5 but on the brochure that I printed from the website it says 2.25. Which one is accurate?

NVM I just checked and I didn't have the updated one.

It used to be 2.0 and they didn't even enforce that but now it is 2.5.

Is anyone applying for the August trimester at Inter?

I applied last month for the August semester but I haven't heard back from them yet :(

I'm applying for August. I have to send off my transcripts still tho

Hi,

I'm also planning on applying for August.

I am going to go down there and apply in person in March..

Can anyone tell me what Inter requires for "course descriptions" from old undergrad courses? I am trying to print out what I can from my undergrad university website, will that be adequate to apply with?
