Anyone out there have info on the school in Arecibo, PR? It is a 24 month program that begins in August.

I'd love to hear anything, thanks.

Well if you want to do your masters it is a problem. And I mentioned its bilingual so hence some classes are in Spanish. However ALL of the nursing and science classes are in English with English books and taught by prof. Who studied in the states. I know Umet has a nursing board review class that you can take just before you grad. Go to both schools. I did and my first choice was la inter until I went to see them both.

Well if you want to do your masters it is a problem.

The school has to write a letter explaining the A&P is integrated. It has happened to a couple people doing their masters back in the states.

Ok, well to me thats one thing I didn't like especially when I took anatomy 1&2 in Florida. I was just very disappointed when I went on the small tour after going to Umet. Like I said before you guys have to visit both schools to make a choice

Hello!

I am new to this thread, but I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to this! I've gotten information from two former students who graduated from Inter American (one last year and the other 2 years ago) but it was never this detailed. I've been taking ALOT of notes since thread #1.Thank you all so much, because it puts my mind at ease. I've never been too far from home, the most was 4 1/2 hours away. I am from Atlanta, GA--so if I were to go ahead and move to Puerto Rico, it'd be a MAJOR move. Anyway, I've been emailing "E" recently and he told me that he would send me the new financial aid information. I have not gotten that information yet, so I was wondering if anyone knew that information. I read earlier in the thread that it was roughly $3000 a semester, but I know the English program is in trimesters, so I was wondering how that works. I will be a second degree student, so I know I'd basically be living off loans. So I just want to make sure I know what to budget for. Also, this question would more than likely be directed to Jen_Jen88, could you tell me the cost for UMET?

Also, another question that I didn't see earlier was about the cell phone service. What service works best, Sprint or AT&T? I am asking this question because I am almost out of my contract with Tmo and I want to make sure I am set if I do decide that I'm moving to PR (which right now, I think its a go) I pretty much plan on taking everyone's advice and just go ahead and visit both schools and making my choice from there. I'm pretty set on Inter American because I know people who've gone there and who know the area pretty well, but there's enough room for me to change my mind. If all goes well, I plan to attend August 2012. Nervous, but excited!

Umet is part-term so a bimester consist of 8 weeks. My tuition for 16 credits was about $3500 total with all fees included. I've herd at&t works best. Sprint and tmobile are also good.

Hi Jen and Yogi thanks for the information!

I have a few more questions......

1. AT UMET SOSC 103 INTRO TO SOCIAL SCIENCES.. and at LA INTER GEHS 3020 global society ..... will both or one of those schools accept Intro to Sociology?? Im trying to figure out which course has the most simiular course description to these.... I think i recall people saying they had taken intro to sociology... For all you who have did UMET or LA INTER accept your class, and if so which school and which class did the intro to sociology take place of at the school in PR?

2. AT UMET: HUMA 101 AND 102 intro to western civilization.... will a regular US HISTORY class fulfill this?

- Im trying to figure out which history class at my school will fulfill this course...... one history course at my school is called hist 101 western civilization: ancient to medieval (Studies the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Covers development of Judeo-Christian beliefs, early Islamic civilization, Byzantine civilization, and early medieval Europe) or history 201 US HISTORY (Studies cause and effect, and significant trends and movements related to political, social and economic ideas and events from Colonial times to 1840)?

3. AT LA INTER: GEHS 4020 ANCIENT And MEDIEVAL WESTERN CIVILIZATION ... would the above class i menitoned be transferable... history 101 wester civilization: ancient to medieval (Studies the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Covers development of Judeo-Christian beliefs, early Islamic civilization, Byzantine civilization, and early medieval Europe)??

Classes start this week and i was signed up for a few classes and i was reading the course descriptions and i started to panic because after reading the descriptions they don't seem to match up. And i can't get a hold of anybody at neither school to ask them. For the last 2 months ive been asking them these questions but no response. So hopefully someone can answer my questions regarding the courses!

Hi Jen and Yogi thanks for the information!

I have a few more questions......

Sorry I can't help you with those questions. I had a previous Bachelors degree so I was accepted into the accelerated program. The only GE class I had to take was History of Puerto Rico.

I know that E can't help with everything but do you have his number? By the way today is the first day back after Christmas break that started Dec 22. Basically the school was closed so you would not have been able to get anyone. I am sure UMET was the same way. Christmas and 3 kings day are serious holidays here.

I read earlier in the thread that it was roughly $3000 a semester, but I know the English program is in trimesters, so I was wondering how that works.

Also, another question that I didn't see earlier was about the cell phone service. What service works best, Sprint or AT&T?

I don't get financial aid so I don't know exactly but I am pretty sure the person meant to type 3,000 per trimester. I think that is about what people get. Hopefully a fin aid student will chime in. It seems lately it is just myself and Cahoon and maybe another person from time to time.

I wish the current class would start answering questions because I am going to stop following this thread soon as I start studying for NCLEX, studying for my classes, looking for a job, packing up all my stuff and selling the other stuff.

Agreeing with Jen AT&T is the best (funny because they have the worst service in the Bay Area), sprint is next, then T-mobile and steer clear of Verizon. Love Verizon stateside but in PR they do not have a true network and peeps have a lot of problems with their service.

No Verizon! I have that now and its a pain! As for classes I took west civ two online at la inter in the summer and had them transfered to Umet with history of PR. West civ 101 should transfer especially if the descriptions match a US history does not match the course descriptions. Intro to sociology should transfer as well

Thank you so much Jen_Jen88 and WorldtravelingYogi for that information!!! I really appreciate it! You guys have helped me out alot so far!
