Puerto Rico school feedback?

Published

Anyone out there have info on the school in Arecibo, PR? It is a 24 month program that begins in August.

I'd love to hear anything, thanks.

I've been reading these posts for a couple of years now and have been debating attending this school. I finally called them and talked to someone about the program and I'm very much interested. I have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with.

On their website, it indicates that an interview is required prior to being accepted into the program. However, in all of these posts I've read, I don't recall seeing any mention of an interview. I don't mind going of course, but I wonder if they now have different criteria. Has anyone else had an interview?

Also, I couldn't find an application in English on their website. A few of you have said that they were able to email it to you. I asked the lady there if she could email it to me, and she said it was online, so emailing it wasn't necessary. Does anyone have a link for the English application? I can't find it anywhere on their website.

I also asked if the program started any other time of the year than August, and I was told that I could begin in November. Has anyone else started in November? I think I'll probably take some classes online beginning in November and apply for next August. I know that Christian religion and History of Puerto Rico can be taken online, so I'll do those for now.

Hi, I'm currently at inter and yes when u come here u must sit down and talk with the nursing director Dr. A. She will break down what is expected of you and what courses will have to take in order to complete the degree. So that is considered to be the interview. And yes they may start in November if there is a need. So if they told you that u can start then maybe there is a need. If u can begin in November y wait?

Anything else just ask.

About the application...just do it online and then send in ur info. It's fine.

Would you mind sending me the info as well? I've been trying to figure out how to contact "E" as well :)

And by the way, thank you for all of the wonderful info that you've given everyone over time. You, WorldTraveling Yogi, and others have been very helpful to everyone.

I'm so sorry--I just saw this now! For some reason I don't always get emails when there is a new post. I'll PM you the info now.

I'm glad that we can help :) I love my school, my classmates and my professors. Even though the school is extremely frustrating at times, I wouldn't give up this experience for anything. So, I like to help others out who are considering the school.

Here is the application online:

I hope that works! I did mine in person, so I'm not exactly sure how the process is. It looks like it is in both English and Spanish though.

No there is no interview unless this is something they just implemented. However this school is very casual so they may come off as formal but there is nothing formal here and even if things are required, there are ways around everything. So even if they say that now they require an interview, which I highly doubt, then you could ask if you can do it over the phone.

Yes you can start in November but they don't really advertise this. They told me no last year but I know a few people that started in November. You can only start the accelerated program in Nov. Basically you join the non accelerated group and then catch up to the accelerated group. The accelerated program has no general ed besides History of PR and Christan Faith. The non accelerated program has GE. So you take their nursing classes and there is just one class you have to make up. I don't know exactly how it works but by Aug of the next year you should be caught up.

Yes I agree with StCroixFutureNurse. Start now in Nov. Don't wait until next August. Those two GE classes are so easy. You can do them online while taking your other classes.

Thank you all so much for the information and the links! I would LOVE to go this November, but I'm not sure I will financially ready by then. I need to save up for another vehicle too. I am going to try to get everything lined up so I can try to squeeze in in November. I'll let you know if I make it in time. It's my priority right now, so we'll see...

Thanks again for the information!

Um....what is that supposed to mean--I'm still here?? I've been in the school for 1 year now (started last August) and in this thread for well over that because I, like most people, was researching my options in regards to the school before I jumped into anything.

And why would the school pay me to write in a forum? Their program is doing well enough on its own, they don't need students to advertise about it. I just happen to love my school, and if you have read all of my posts you will see that I have also highlighted the negatives about it as well. I doubt I would have done that if they were paying me. That's just an asinine question. WorldTravelingYogi helps just as much as I do. Why don't you ask her if she gets paid for posting here? She's a good friend of mine, and I can assure you that she doesn't get anything for posting here either. I honestly thought I was helping out here, but if there are people like you who think I have an ulterior motive I can just stop helping. I take time out of my busy schedule (unpaid time) to help, so it wouldn't be hard to just walk away ;)

OK, never mind my last post, because I think I know who you are LOL I saw that you go to this school, what you did for a living and what state you're from, so I think I know who it is. I thought you had a different name on here though?? It's funny, before I even saw all that, I told my husband hmmmm, this looks like ___'s writing :lol2: So, knowing who you are, I don't think you meant that in a bad way, so disregard my last post!

But no, they're not paying me for this. If they were, you know I would have told you about it ;)

I think you will regret it if you wait until next August. And remember this school does not have any pre-reqs. So I wasted 2 years of pre-reqs and I could have been doing this program during that time and I would have been finished in 2010 not just starting in 2010.

I realize finances are always an issue. Hopefully you can figure it out in the next 10 weeks. Goodluck.
