Anyone out there have info on the school in Arecibo, PR? It is a 24 month program that begins in August.

I'd love to hear anything, thanks.

I don't think that UMET would sound any better on a resume. My best friend works at an eyeglass place in Orlando, and there were probably 4 ophthalmologists working there that went to La Inter. I know those are doctors, but if the school has a good reputations for doctors it must be the same for nurses.

If the school was crappy it probably wouldn't have gotten continuing accreditation for the BSN and initial accreditation for the ADN. I personally love my school. Even though it may be frustrating at times, that's just Puerto Rico for you. Inter all the way baby :)

Hi designer mom. I currently live in Orlando Florida. I got accepted to Inter. I will be starting on August 1, 2011. I saw that you lived in Florida as well. In prior threds, I read that becoming a RN from Inter to Florida might be a little difficult. How are you and anyone else from Florida is going by this??

Hi do you have any info about the ADN program? How long would it take if I already have all my generals done? And would u by chance know any info about the "dormitory" for all girls?

If you have all of your generals done you can be in the accelerated program. You can do the ADN in about 11 months. Awesome, right?! You start in the beginning of August and finish up at the end of June. I'm sooooo jealous of my classmates who are getting their ADNs at the end of this month!!! I have at least 4 1/2 months, but it will probably be more like 8 though :crying2:

I don't know anything about the girls dorms. I live in a house in Gurabo, about 35 minutes from the school. I love my town!!!

I've heard that there are quite a few hoops to jump through in FL. I think they said something about an English test since they consider this an international school at the FL BON. I highly doubt that I'm going back to FL though, so I haven't gotten many details about it. Sorry! If I hear anything I'll let you know ;)

Hopefully WordTravelingYogi will chime in here. She's a friend of mine who lives where a lot of the students live. I think it's called Las Cumbres or something like that. It's within walking distance for sure. If you talk to "E" in the International Students office he can help you find good housing. He is SUPER nice--even gave some students tours of the campus and took some to see housing. That's one thing I can say about the school, they may be laid back (as in not getting things accomplished fast), but they are the nicest professors that I have ever encountered. We have went to breakfast with one of our professors a few times. They're more like friends/mentors than strict professors. There are a few that are super hard and strict, but even they are nice and truly awesome people. Also, you go through the program with the same classmates, so you build a very strong bond. When I went to college in Orlando it was a very impersonal experience. The professors had so many students and they really didn't seem to care. Plus, the students didn't care much about getting to know each other. It's a whole different experience here in PR.

I am extremely happy with my journey at La Inter so far

No problem! There are a LOT of people from the islands in my classes. I love their accents--could listen to them talk all day

So are your plans to take the general NCLEX, then continue nursing in Florida??? Also you mentioned that Inter received their initial accreditation for their ADN. So is the ADN program is now accredited???

No, I'm probably going to go to another state. I was born and raised in Orlando, but my mom passed away 2 years ago, and she was the only family I had there. So, it won't feel like "home" if I go back...know what I mean? I'm kinda like a gypsy at the moment, able to roam free wherever. I just have to make sure that it's a good place to raise a family because I have 4 children and they need a good environment and good schools.

And yes, the ADN is now accredited!!! They got initial accreditation in December or January I believe. I was sooooooo excited, because I want to finish my ADN and then do the RN-BSN back in the states. I know it's not that smart since nursing jobs are VERY scarce right now, but I need to get my kids back to the states. I feel they will get a better education over there because the public schools here aren't all that great. Plus the expense of feeding them here is astronomical. Over in the states I did the buy one get one free sales with the coupons, over here they don't have any of that. Plus milk is $6 a gallon. Yikes!!!

Sorry to hear about your Mom. :(. I feel like I've out grown Orlando. Im the only person in my mom's family that is here. All of my husband family is here. My Mom lives in St. Thomas, so this will be alot closer to her, if just until I get my ADN. I plan on getting my ADN and my BSN, but one step at a time. I have a 20 month old daughter so I know what you mean about good schools and such. I will be moving with my husband and daughter.

Thanks FeMaMaFutureRN :)

StCroixFutureNurse, the hospitals that I know for sure that they've used are Auxilio Mutuo, the VA, Centro Medico, HIMA in Caguas, and for Psychosocial I went to San Juan Capestrano. Boy was that an adventure LOLLLLLLL
