public health nurse jobs?

Published

Hi does anyone know where else to find public health nurse jobs?

I am a new grad and have about 5 months of experience so far, but still work in the hospital at the same job.

I do not like bedside nursing and never have, but stuck to becoming a nurse do to the fact that I was told over and over that there lots of other areas of nursing.

I feel bedside is all there is available and I feel really stuck. Day to day I worry about lying patients and false complaints even after I do everything by the book. I am feeling burned out and management is not supportive at all.

So besides going to the state health department website for public health nurse jobs where else can I check?

I would say get at least 2 years of bedside nursing under your belt. Many doors open to experienced nurses. I had two years med surg and 6 psych before moving into public health. The entire point of public health nursing is that you are experienced bedside nurse. And if you think it is easy or less stressful think again. You can get sued just as easy. And you will be doing work at home that I guarantee. I have spent many nights on my laptop during my "time off". Ultimately it is up to you to find your path. No one told me anything..I just went out and made it happen. Good luck!
