Boy can I attest to this. After being on bedrest for 14 weeks with my youngest, I barely had the stamina to shower and dry my hair. It definitely posed a challenge caring for a toddler and newborn with so little physical strength and stamina.

I've been saying this for years! PT should be part of every bedrest pts care plan!

Our hospital is pretty good with getting pt on our "long term" BRers.
They ever get weekly(?) massages.
This is all contingent upon whether or not the md writes the order, but the RNs here are pretty good at advocating.

Our MDs write orders for PT also, when they remember. And I have to say, the residents are just as good about writing them as the private docs.

We have P.T. work with our High-Risk patients. They do resistance exercises with them using the elastic bands. It's a great program. :smilecoffeeIlovecof
