Hi all! I am a RPN (registered psychiatric nurse) here in British Columbia, Canada. I am wanting to move to Ontario, Canada but my designation and training are not recognized there. Does anyone know of a bridging program for RPNs to get their BScN without having to complete the full 4 years? I have a 3-year diploma in psychiatric nursing from Douglas College, British Columbia.

I'd check with UBC first. I know there was a programme run through the UofA, RPNs made up extra credits in A&P, and stuff like obstetrics. Or just call Douglas College and ask them for advice.

For what it's worth, I'd heard rumours that the RPN was going to turn into a 4yr degree as well.

I'm a RPN (registered practical nurse) who was looking into the BPN program in BC (Bachelor in psychiatric nursing) and asked about transferrable credits etc. I was told that I would have to complete the full 4 years and there was no bridging program or exemptions... it might be the same for you in Ontario, they may not accept any of your registered psych credits because we do not have any equivalent program like that here in Ontario. Right now, it seems like going through the process of matching course outlines from other colleges in Ontario to transfer credits, bridge or exempt, is too much of a task for the colleges so they are basically telling people they have to start from Year 1... it is very frustrating.
