Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing in Michigan

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hi!

I will be starting my last semester of nursing school this winter semester. The last rotation I had was in Psych and I loved it! So now I am trying to locate any hospital or private facility where I can start as a psych nurse (GN). However, I'm not exactly how to go about searching for these places besides looking at the main hospitals. So I was hoping you could help! It doesn't matter where in Michigan the facility is (although I do live on the East side of Michigan in Macomb County), I'm willing to relocate!

So if you could just spew off some names for me,:lol2: I'd be really grateful! Thanks a million!:bowingpur

I know this thread is old but I have to comment... NO NO NO NO!!!! I can't express how truly awful this pathetic excuse for a "psych floor" is. I initially wanted to be a psych nurse, until I had clinicals at botsford... the patients are GROSSLY over sedated, under-monitored (I know that's prob not a real word), meds are given w/out any prior assessment of VS/orientation etc, even worse, there was ONE manual BP cuff for the whole unit that was way overdue to be calibrated (the needle sat at 30 when deflated, but didn't matter since they never checked pt's BPs..), and one non-functional pulse ox.

Sorry for the long rant but if I can save some new grad from working there and learning these awful practices then I will rant all day!
