Psych online or on campus?

We have the choice of picking whether we want to take it online or sit in for a class on campus

those who have taken it online, how was it?

I took psychology 101 on campus and developmental psychology online. I made A's in both. However, due to duplicity of ideas that are sometimes only altered in the most minute of ways between X's theory and Y's theory, I would recommend psyche 101 (or comparable) on campus. The professors can usually give memorable examples in a live lecture that sometimes won't translate to the recorded lecture. Developmental psyche, however, is completely doable online AFTER you've learned the theories and concepts from psychology 101.

This is just my experience and my opinion. I've taken 1/3 of all of my pre-reqs in the online format due to employment and familial responsibilities so I am very accustomed to, and comfortable with, the learning format. You should consider how well you learn in online setting and measure how well you anticipate to understand the material before you decide.

Best of luck to you!

Are you talking about psych nursing or a general psych course? I actually took both online and did well in both (lectures - not clinical :D ). I didn't care for the either topic, so I didn't mind to not be in class able to ask questions.

Good day, JustJainie:

Over the past year I've taken classes on campus on online. It turns out due to scheduling issues that every single psychology class I've taken online (introduction to psychology, life span development, and this fall to be abnormal psychology). While I find online classes harder than on campus classes (for the most part), I actually enjoyed the psychology classes online. Keep up with the reading. If the online doesn't have audio/visual, then check out iTunes University as well as youtube.com

Thank you.

I've taken 1 psych class in-person, and 2 online. For my next one I want to take it in person. I personally have an easier time learning the material when I am in lecture and can ask questions and bounce ideas off other students and the instructor in a real-time manner. I also remember things from a live-class better than I do listening to a recorded lecture. That being said I did just fine in the online class I took, and I'm doing just fine in my current online pysch class. It really depends on your learning style and what other commitments you may have as to which one is best.

Ahhhhh TOTALLY MEANT NURSING PHSYCH CLASS!!

I'm taking psych nursing now in a summer semester and it's four hours of lecture once a week plus a clinical day. I can see where it would be ok to take online for lecture, because mainly we just go over power points and watch some videos which you can find on youtube. I'm not saying it's easy, nope....... Not easy. :banghead:

Looks like it's too late for that :( slots for the online class are already full! >.

At my school online classes usually fill up fast. Everyone thinks they're easier but they're definitely not!

Having majored in Psychology, the subject lends itself well to text (and solitary reading), given it's largely conceptual. Personally though I never took the subject online as I am in total agreement with you over the benefits of a classroom!
