Psy 101 Online

Published

Has anyone taken psy 101 online at either MCC or CGCC? If so, was it all online? Also, what did the class assignments entail? I already signed up through Rio, but am considering taking it elsewhere. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I took it through Rio and it was very easy. Alot of reading. The final was a piece of CAKE. They tell you what you need to write it on and I breezed through with an A. The final was the only in person exam for that class. There wasn't a midterm either. Just the essays

Thanks so much for your reply. So, was the final just an essay question and no multiple choice? Also, did you do the collaborative debates?

Just Essay. He gave us the format for the final as well. I think it was in syllabus but not sure. So I prepared what I was going to write and pretty much memorized my Essay and then went in a wrote it. We had to do the debates but it wasn't a big deal. You post a few topics. Most people spouted the book verbatum then you critique it via Essay format and submit to your instructor. At least thats what I did and I received full points for EVERYTHING.

I took it online through Rio and it was pretty easy as long as you do the work. Just need to do some reading and write essays every week or so. Just write long essays and be specific about ideas - try quoting the text a lot and then adding your own thoughts. The course was ok, but I prefer taking a class at school. It saved a lot of time and I pulled an A. For the final I reviewed my previous assignments and memorized some points to write about. It's a good option if you want to save time.

I took this class through Rio as well and passed it with 100%. It was by far the easiest class I've ever taken. Every other week you write an essay about something from the 2-3 major parts that you found most interesting. You don't even have to read the entire chapter to do that. As was said before, you know in advance what will be asked on the final, again writing about those topics you chose, about your discussions, etc. ,

Are you still going for Rio or are you going for another cc?

Yes, I am sticking with Rio. Just psy 101 and chem, which I am taking together, and I can apply in September! In first week on both and they really don't seem too bad. I was a little worried about the psy as it seemed like a lot of reading and writing, but considering there is no midterm, and I already know what they are going to ask me to write about on the final, it is pretty easy. I will even probably end up finishing the class early. Thanks for your response!

I'm just starting the Psy 101 right now at Rio. Anyone still have their book?

I don't have the book anymore but I do have the Scientific American magazine if they are still using that. I'd be happy to pass it on to someone else . . .
