PSB-LPN Exam

Published

Hey, Everyone!

I am going to start my last quarter of pre-reqs on Tuesday at Georiga Northwestern Technical College in Rome, GA. I will be taking math, a & p, and med term this quarter. I plan to submit my application for the LPN program in early October. The program is competitive and so far, although not perfect, I do have all As.

What I am wondering is if anyone can tell me what to expect from the PSB-LPN exam. This test is a requirement, and overall GPA is added to the PSB score (must be 40 percentile) to determine elgibility for the program.

Any advice such as websites and study guides is much appreciated!

Wish me luck!

Thanks!

there are sample questions on the site. I had to take the RN version and get at least 65th percentile in 3 of the 5 sections to apply for the RN program I want into. I do not know how different or similar the RN and LPN versions are. The RN one I found to be very easy, but I have always done very very well with aptitude testings, which is pretty much what this is. The one thing with the test is the time windows for the sections are very short for the material, so you can't sit on a question if you don't know. You have to know yourself and know when to pass on questions and then come back if there is time. If you want I can tell you how the test I took was structured, but I do not know that it will be the same as LPN version.

I'm a student there too! I'm scheduled to take the PSB on Oct. 14Th, so I'm getting very nervous! I just finished up my pre-reqs this summer, so I'm hoping to start the program in January! My GPA is between a 3.6 and 3.7, so I'm nervous as to whether or not that will be good enough since that counts for 65% of total score. As far as study material goes, I've been going to math.com and practicing the quizzes there, but I'm lost as to what I should be studying as far as natural science goes, so if you find something good let me know! Good luck to you!

if i remeber correctly with natural science on rn one, its mostly anatomy, physiology and biology type questions. Some very basic chem. Few very basic physics, a couple of which are electrical physics(seriously only a couple questions so not enough to kill you if you dont know or never took phyisics....more a bonus for knowing some phyisics....so dont stress out bout that). Couple historical science questions....again...not enough questions to stress about. Its very broad base so not really something you can study for.....it really is a test of do you KNOW some science. For my version if you had bio and A&P and remeber things from it you should be just fine. Also LPN may be quite different.

I'm also taking my PSB-LPN this month, with hope of getting January-entry as well! From what I've heard other LPN Applicants or those who are already in the program - it's not something you can truly study for. A lot of the sections, you either know it or you don't, but that still doesn't mean you can prep yourself for what's to come up on the test, or around-about what to expect.

I've been using this site: http://cfcc.edu/learninglab/PSB/PSB.htm along with a few others to make myself generally comfortable with all the test may consist of. My biggest fear is the math portion. From the looks of it, the Natural Science portion will contain a lot of Anatomy/Physiology/Biology rather than anything else. So if you have basic knowledge in some of the basics of these sciences, you should do fairly well, I believe!

Also, for LPN you do not have a Reading Comp section on the exam!

Best of luck to all October PSB Takers! :clown:
