Well, It's not "normal", no.
There could be several reasons for this. Someone did a quick wash and didn't do a good job...just didn't stop to notice....
Could be the resident has been changed, but they had a BM shortly after being changed and noone noticed until now.
Of course, if you ever suspect neglect you should report it. But sometimes it gets crazy busy and every now and then you will find a resident in bm...it's unfortunate, but it happens in real life. If you notice it happening often, or there is skin break down (rash/sores) in the peri area, report it to the nurse, since this is a sign someone isn't doing their job, or not doing it properly.
what is the attitude of the CNAsdo they seem caring, are they rushed, do the residents get good oral care
I had this resident for two days once for a complete bed bath and the next day I did breakfast feeding and I'm positive she didn't have oral care that morning. They seem pretty rushed because they are short staffed luckily for them they have us students there to help. Were on the dementia floor so this resident in particular does not speak or understand what is going on. Mind you this is a catholic facility I had high expectations going in.

I didn't notice any sores or rash and yes I will most certainly report it. My teacher asks us every day before we leave to make sure as well. She says it must be they are too busy and gave a quick bath but in my opinion the private areas and armpits would be the most important parts to get. And when I got in a female residents private area and came out I couldn't believe it. I would hate to leave my resident like that. Thankfully I had more than enough time to clean her up well.
Well of course that isn't normal, no patient should ever have improper perineal care. From my experience not all but many cnas don't do a great job providing certain care to patients. I don't care how long it took me, I always made sure all of my patients had proper oral care, perineal care, etc when I was a CNA

We have been doing partial bed bath and I have noticed that when doing perineal care the pt is very dirty as if they haven't been cleaned well for days. Is this normal? Or are their cna's not providing the right care for them?
