Prospective Drexel ACE Nursing Program Student

Hello ladies & gentlemen! I just joined AllNurses today as a prospective ACE Nursing program student and just wanted to introduce myself and see if anyone had any advice or perspective on the Drexel accelerated program or nursing school in general.

I graduated in 2008 from University of Michigan with a degree in English and am currently working in the legal field, but, thinking about the future, I do not want to be stuck at a desk forever, bouncing from one office to another. My mom is a lifetime nurse, coming from the Philippines in the 70s and working midnight shifts, full-time until her retirement last year, and she has inspired me to follow in her footsteps.

I know the ACE program is basically nursing bootcamp, but I'm ready to make the change. So what do you guys think? Financially, I will (like many others) be using loans to fund this program. In addition to the loan to cover tuition, how did you pay for cost of living? Does the cost of the program outweigh the benefits? Regardless of cost, I'm committed to taking this leap, but just want to get some perspective from people who have been there before.

I have a lot of pre-reqs to complete still at CCP (since I was on the English track for undergrad, I didn't do much by way of science, etc.) and I'm also getting married next year. After the wedding, this will become my main focus but I figure it helps to prepare early!

DREXEL ACE is the biggest crock of $h!%. Don't buy into all the info they put out there. I am in my 4th quarter. I can handle the amount of work and the vigorous pace. However, the lack of compassion and empathy from instructors up to the administrators is unbelievable. It is nursing school. Aren't compassion and empathy two key skills for all nurses to have?! They do not practice what they preach!

I graduated last August from the ACE program. There's a ton of great info on the board if you do a search. Tips on studying especially.

I was also an English major first. I thought the program was definitely challenging but I enjoy that kind of pressure. Was very exhausted by the end! But I think I was well-prepared for life as a new grad by the time I graduated.

anyone else that can speak to the quality of this program? Is it worth the $ and are the faculty and staff friendly and helpful? Looking to apply for 2012

Look into Thomas Jefferson FACT program. I am currently in it and I LOVE it. The professors and faculty are great and really go out of there way to help. Plus it is only 12 months.
