Hello ladies & gentlemen! I just joined AllNurses today as a prospective Drexel ACE Nursing program student and just wanted to introduce myself and see if anyone had any advice or perspective on the Drexel accelerated program or nursing school in general. I graduated in 2008 from University of Michigan with a degree in English and am currently working in the legal field, but, thinking about the future, I do not want to be stuck at a desk forever, bouncing from one office to another. My mom is a lifetime nurse, coming from the Philippines in the 70s and working midnight shifts, full-time until her retirement last year, and she has inspired me to follow in her footsteps. I know the ACE program is basically nursing bootcamp, but I'm ready to make the change. So what do you guys think? Financially, I will (like many others) be using loans to fund this program. In addition to the loan to cover tuition, how did you pay for cost of living? Does the cost of the program outweigh the benefits? Regardless of cost, I'm committed to taking this leap, but just want to get some perspective from people who have been there before. I have a lot of pre-reqs to complete still at CCP (since I was on the English track for undergrad, I didn't do much by way of science, etc.) and I'm also getting married next year. After the wedding, this will become my main focus but I figure it helps to prepare early! Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you all in the future!
