I'm on my way to the urgent care, but I'm beginning to wonder about myself. (no comments from the peanut gallery!) It has been 9 days since my elbow surgery. Yesterday I took off the splint 4 days early because something just didn't feel right. The incision is infected. This is my fourth surgery and the third time I've had a post op infection in spite of everything. This doesn't happen with minor cuts, just surgical incisions. Can't blame the surgeon, it's been a different one each time. Anyone heard of this?

Every time my aunt has surgery, she gets a serious infection. When she had gastric bypass she became septic! and when she had her hysterectomy she also became septic! I think some people are just prone to infection. Hope your elbow heals up and your okay.

This is something only a doctor can diagnose; it is beyond the scope of our practice as nurses, as well as of this website, to offer advice regarding medical matters.
Good luck to you. You're doing exactly the right thing in getting checked out by a qualified medical practitioner.
