Program NCLEX pass rates

Just curious as to what the pass rate is for various schools. My school had a pass rate of 90 or 95% as of the year I applied, but there was a huge drop. The pass rate for last year was 78%. I am a little stressed by that. My instructer said it was b/c the NCLEX had made a change that year and that they have changed the format of the program to accomadate this. I'm still stressed b/c this school is ridiculously priced and I will be darned if I fail that thing. Our school is $880 a credit hour. I Better pass the first time. After all, I will have a giant student loan to pay back:chuckle. BTW I don't grad until May 2009, but never to early to start planning, right?

i am in NY and i plan on studying my butt off after graduation.........i am only worried about myself......

I was only expressing concern that the school may not be giving us the education required to pass the NCLEX. Obviously if only 20 out of 40 students pass it the first time, it seems to me a teaching problem.

Are you sure 20 out of 40 are failing? I might be wrong but I didn't think the BON would allow the program to continue if the first time pass rate falls much below 75%.

:twocents:Actually ladies it is a very good question. Our instructors informed us that they were required to do a written plan of correction to the BON because they too went from a 95 to a 78% a year ago. If they don't bring their scores up they will place them on probation and can even shut the program down.

They said because Ky. started requiring graduates to have 120 hours of clinicals before graduation and then again after, instead of taking NCLEX immediately after graduation like they had always done before. Who knows maybe they were right because so far the group that graduated in Dec. 2007 16/16 have taken and passed boards. Since they only had 24 graduates I am sure they will surpass their miserable 78% this year. Anyway your paying for this in more ways than one and you can ask anything you want. As they say "there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers".

I made a mistake while typing. It was 29 out of 40.
