Just coming back to comment and say wow, its hard to believe this was just a year ago and we were all in first semester. I wish we knew then, what we all know now. Would we still have joined the program?

Not sure how to deal with this future classmate...

This guy is absolutely going to say something to you in class, He thinks you guys are friends, even though you've given him absolutely NO indication of friendship whatsoever, you've been very polite, but he is trying to push boundaries and you do not deserve that. If it were me, I would just ignore him completely. If he asks you for homework or something else tell him "nope I dont have it" and continue to ignore. He clearly doesnt understand that his behavior is inappropriate and so telling him you have a boyfriend probably wont work. The only thing that makes guys like that stop is them deciding to leave you alone after youve ignored them. If he gets abusive you should take the text messages to your school. If he says something abusive in person, you should ask him to repeat what he said "just so youre clear about what he said" and then walk right to the deans office and report it.

I agree with Hawrsh20. Its bumpy but you will make it. 1. Study every day. 2. Listen intently during class 3. Read the chapter before you have the class on it. 4. DO NOT EVER MISS A CLASS and be on time for all clinical days. 5. Make friends and hold each other accountable for going to enrichment sessions. If you follow these things you should be good.

    Student Nurse Tech Position

Thanks! I needed that tip! I will. What kinds of things do you do? Were you confident when you first started?

    Student Nurse Tech Position

Its almost summer break, Im a first semester, I want to extend my learning experience throughout the break, therefore I applied for some jobs as a nursing assistant, and as a nurse extern at some local hospitals. I was lucky enough to be called for interviews at two separate hospitals. One for an externship and one for a student nurse tech position. I believe both jobs are relatively similar but with different names. Im pretty confident that one of the two will call me and Id be very lucky to have either position. Has anybody here worked as an extern/student nurse tech as a first semester? Can you offer tips or advice?

Seriously?!?! You gotta be kidding me!

Not a work story, but when I was married to my first husband, his father had serious heart problems and very poor health. His cholesterol was sky high and he was super obese. One day while he was at work, he started having chest tightness and pain. He has his buddy drive him to the hopital, but not before stopping at a coney island to get a Coney (for those not from Detroit its a hot dog, with chilli, nacho cheese, and onion on it) and fries. He was seriously sitting there eating them, when the Dr came into the room to check him out. Leads on his chest and everything.

I wouldn't want her as my nurse. Its your responsibility to make sure patients are safe once she goes out into the real world. If you dont work, you dont pass.

Another head lice; I want to help this child

I really hope CPS is able to do an intervention. If this parent is not taking the time to clean this child and protect her from vermin then they dont need to have a child. This just makes me so sad.

Its cool, Im thinking that they are really going to try to help us succeed. There were some pretty funny videos in 101 today however, basically half the class was cracking up by the end. @Hawrsh20 who did you get for lecture? Mervin and I got Prof. Kearney and shes an ANGEL.

I'd say a notebook because they're going to have you taking some notes, a pen for signing paperwork and some hand lotion.

So tips for everybody, bring lunch or snacks to class, there is NO food for purchase here in this building and the only options nearby are an Italian place, a Wendys and a Tim Hortons. But there are microwaves in the lobby. Also, the Elsavier lady came in to ramble on again about the books so be prepared...

Yeah I'm coming alone. I feel like bringing someone is for really young kids who have parents at home and such. We can all being each other lol! As far as being terrified. I'm not at all. I am so excited to start! I don't think I've ever been this excited about something in my life. Only think I'm nervous about it the nclex. Lol. And we have plenty of time to prepare for that! We are ALL going to be fine. We will help each other. Also we seem to be a really proactive group of people here, we will be fine. :)
