  1. Agreed, we are lead to believe that paying big bucks will benefit us in the long run. I have watched Nursing Education become a money-making empire. I work with many RNs who have BSN's, they also have huge student loan payments.

Are There Jobs for Inexperienced RNs Besides Floor Nursing?

If you quit what will you do? The first year is always the hardest. Don't give up, this is not an easy path to take. Being an RN is an unappreciated endeavor. Being a constant target for patients, families, docs and management to fuss and complain all day. I know it's hard, but you can't give up.

So what's going to happen to health care now?

The ACA is a rip off. Our plan was fine before the IRS got involved. Who can afford it? Why do you think Trump won the election and the democrats took a historical loss? You can slice it any way you want to fit your narrative. The democrats passed a bill without reading it. Like Pelosi said "We have to pass it to see what's in it away from the fog." I'm delighted Trump is in office and want to see it repealed.

That insane premium is the reality for many in the US. So glad it's going to change soon enough. My family's premiums went way up and the policy is worse. The ACA has brought hardship to many. The left wing media ignores all this. Any family that has $ 5,000-7,500 out of pocket deductible is being ripped off. The Dems really thought a "single payer system" was coming. They really think the gov. can pay for all Americans and anyone else showing up. The bottom line is it was a massive failure.

No way would I do anything like that. Being locked up all day with the scum of society is not for me.

How could you give up and do NOTHING?

After over 26 years of seeing patients die long drawn out deaths, I'm all for Hospice. Just because we can keep people alive longer does mean we should. It's inhumane to do this to elderly people. Many times it's done to simply bill Medicare. I think code status should be strenuously addressed on admission.

What Do You Love About Nursing?

As a Vet I have enjoyed meeting and talking to America's Vets. Met many WW2 Vets, Korean, Vietnam and Gulf war as well. It's an honor to take care of them. The VA has failed them miserably. We owe them everything, we are free today because of the Armed Forces of the US. If you ever come across a Vet be sure to thank them and let them know their service to this nation is appreciated. For myself, it's the icing on the cake, would not want to do anything else.

So what's going to happen to health care now?

I know people who are in the 50k or less boat and their premiums are much more than 225. Many also don't get anything from the Gov. but lip. Now those that could not afford the high premiums will be fined. Only in America. The cost of healthcare is pathetic and overly expensive for everyone. The inflated cost is crushing the people. Those with no knowledge of how things work in the hospital really get gouged. I had to go to the ER with ABD pain, turned out to be gallstones. Had my gallbladder out in an out-patient center. The bills were ridiculous. The ER was the worst. 450 for an EKG, 350 for EKG read fee. 25 puncture fee for the lab draws. 160 for 2mg IV Dilaudid. I could go on, then the bills for the surgery started rolling in. It was profoundly inflated. I have no problem for services I received. I can only imagine the bills the guy is getting that had CP, cath lab, CABG, 3 days in CVICU, then 4-7 days on the step-down. If their insurance is lousy they are in deep trouble. I hope Trump pulls the ACA out by it's roots.

So what's going to happen to health care now?

I hope this mess gets straightened out soon. Many American's want the best health care they can get and for someone else to pay for it. The ACA has failed miserably, like many of as anticipated. So many will soon be fined by the IRS because they cannot afford a $1300 a month premium with a $7,500 deductible, it's pure madness. Hopefully we will see some real change in the nation.
  11. Short answer: no. I have seen really no difference. I know many docs male and female who are good. I also know many male and female docs who should not be allowed near a hospital. It's about personality, compassion, and heart. Why not go further with this study. Where the doctors black, white, Korean, Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Jamaican, etc?

The bigger question here would be: Why would 2 men kick in your backdoor at 3 am????? It is not common occurrence IMO. People who just want to steal stuff will not chose that kind of action and always go for the less dangerous thing and chose a place that is not occupied during the day and not kick in a door either. This scenario is unlikely to happen to a normal person. Does it happen - yeah probably somewhere - but it is not daily occurrence in the US. If you live in high crime cities/areas outside of the US, are engaged in crime yourself, gang activities and such - yes that will target you and will make your life much unsafer. But in that case owning guns will also only do so much. I grew up with violence. People who are involved in any kind of crime or gang activity will always have a higher risk of getting injured or killed. It is something that happens because of their actions. But if you are a normal person, who lives a normal live - even though you may be low income or live in a less than ideal neighborhood - chances are you will never encounter your scenario simply because there is not much reason for 2 men to kick in your backdoor. And if that was to happen because they confuse your house or what not - if they are kicking in your backdoor - they have guns. And they are determined and will use them. The second they realize you have a gun or try to get your gun you become an instant object that is dangerous and you will be shot. Even if they came to let's say take you super expensive TV that they saw through the window or if they came to steal some jewelry. Chances are that if they came to steal stuff and you are unarmed and allow them to take the TV and what not - they will just take the stuff and run. Because that is what they came for in the first place. Your scenario is not only unlikely to happen to a normal person not involved in criminal activities or rich in the US, also your desired outcome is unlikely and often more like a wishful thinking kind of thing that is not rooted in reality. Guess what - in incidents with active shooters in healthcare settings there are examples of what is successful in ending scenarios like that before the police arrives. And it is usually older folks who just jump that person (no gun involved - the power of more than one person). Or people who defend their store against armed robberies - ever seen those videos were people just grab a broom and jump over the counter? determination is key and not necessarily a gun. However - despite my person attitude and preference - I am not against people owning a gun. I do not support carrying concealed on hospital property though.

I asked you to go re-read your post. Secondly, if you bothered to read the second post you will notice quotation marks around your words I did find flippant. No one is picking a fight here, seems you just want to complain. Try actually reading what was written in these post here. I have nothing to get off my chest, I think I made that clear to you when I stated, "I don't care what you think." Can't really get much clearer than that. So take a look at your own words please before making statements like that. I live in the real world, I'm not pretending about anything.
