About ameans81

In 2007, I decided that I wanted a career for myself. I had been a stay-home mom to our two boys for 8 years. I had always dreamt of being a detective or forensic photographer. I was trying to be realistic in my dreams and decided that not all detectives are in the criminal area. I went to the college deciding that I wanted to pursue the medical field and be a detective of sorts in healthcare. I weighed between the Medical Assisting Program or the LPN for awhile, but my decision came to me that I would begin my journey as a CMA first, because at the time my husband worked a crazy amount of hours and I wanted to be in a medical office setting so I would have more regular hours to accommodate me also having time for our children. I was very surprised in myself and how well I mastered in the MA program, I ended up graduating in 2008 and was selected by the instructors to be the class speaker at graduation (something I never would have even thought of prior to returning to school). In 2009 my husband's job relocated us from Ohio to Georgia. I've spent these last 8 1/2 years working as a CMA surrounded by some of the best Nurses, CMA's, Physicians, and NP's. All of them encouraging me that I should not settle at my current title, but should pursue my desire and strengths in providing quality care, so in 2013 I decided to return to school and have now completed all my Pre-req's and applied to Chattahoochee Tech's ASN program for Fall 2016. This has been a fast 3 years with up's and down's, stress, tears and happiness. Nothing feels better then being at the end of the semester and completing your classes. Mixed in between these years, we were blessed to have been given another child, our lil girl. It is not only for myself that I pursue this goal of becoming an RN, but also for my children. I want to teach and show them that with hard work and dedication you may achieve anything. Your mind and education is something that no one can ever take away from you!
