I know I am just a CMA and not in anyway a nurse. I also have along with ADHD, have PTSD, anxiety and depression. So I do go to a therapist. He used to work as a hospital managing for the nurses so he knows a thing or two about healthcare As for ...
When I give Stelara injections I have always done then subq. Today a patient came in for one and I’m working in a new place. The Dr asked me if I knew how to give it and I said yes it’s a subq injection. To which he replied no it’s an IM. Then he wen...

That’s true you can give subq in that area of the glute. I’m not sure why he thought it was an IM but even the needle was a Subq needle. I guess because of the short needle I may have given him a subq shot in the glute. I don’t know if that needle c...
I agree with the poster above the more you do it the better you'll get. I was one of the worst in my class when it came to drying blood but now I do it every day. But if you want to look for work without having to draw blood try and OB/GYN ease offi...

I'm not a nurse I'm just to CMA. But I do have ADHD. I do take medication but it doesn't 100% help I need other tricks to help me out. Try a flowsheet that really works for me and helps me from forgetting those little things that everyone else seem...

Make sure you are going in at the right angle, and the biggest tip I can give you is just insert the tip of the needle, go in as little as possible without spilling. If you insert the right amount you should get a good wheel. But I'm just a CMA may...

I am not a nurse but I had to take a drug test just recently, the lab wanted a note from my psychiatrist on the meds I was taking then they also wanted my pharmacy but I passed the test. I have ADHD and C-PTSD so I'm on quite the cocktail of meds. ...

I have to agree with you. In a place I used to work at they would prepare a bunch of influenza vaccines from the vial and leave them in the fridge for MA's to use. I ignored them and still drew my own. But I never had a PA or a Dr. draw one up jus...
I'm a CMA and didn't find it a problem finding employment and I really enjoy my job. That said if you want to be a nurse then go for it. MA's and nurses are two different things.

Started out with a lightweight classic ii and it was ok but I noticed I just couldn't hear certain things. Just recently upgraded to the cardiology iii and love it. It seems like there is nothing I can't hear with it. It was well worth the money.
1st thing that came to my mind is which hand are you using to hold the needle. I'm naturally more right handed so I hold the needle steady with my left hand and change with my right. You shouldn't have to adjust, the needle shouldn't move at all w...

That's what I feared, I don't think we are as regulated as we should be, it's up to the Dr, but it's also his license on the line. Personally I would refuse, but that's because I like being a CMA, and wouldn't feel comfortable doing it. Have you s...

As a CMA I would have to say no under the AAMA guidelines. I can't speak for RMAs but it should be the same. But I will say at my current job I do a certain type of physical with Medicare PT. I thought it was out of my scope of practice and when I...

I recap when walking to the Patients room, just recap the right way, don't use both hands slide the needle back into the cap. That's how I was taught to recap a needle.

I hope it's ok for me to join in even though I'm not a nurse. Warning this is also a little ranty The person who found out my password for the EMR and was writing out Dr lab orders with my name on the top and signed by the Dr. I haven't had a cha...

I was abused as a child because I believe I have a parent with an undiagnosed PD disorder. Mods please feel free to give OP my e mail address. If you want a childhood story and how it effects me in adulthood.

In class you do need to know the PQR...ect of the wave. Also a little about waves but don't stress to much over it it's easy stuff. The real part that I do almost everyday in work is hooking people up properly. Pay attention to that part of class ...
