  1. Why can't we all just get along?

Yes, it really is different.. At the university I'm at, it's only a 70 to get in. They don't seem to let you in unless you have some prior experience. Many of them require 1 to 2 years experience out in the field.
  2. Opinions on nursing students?

I'm aware that people know what it means. I don't take them for idiots, hun Thank you for sharing your experience!
  3. Opinions on nursing students?

My bad. *Curtsies with chin up*
  4. What offends you (nursing related)?

Thank you very much! I really appreciate it :) I definitely will!
  5. Opinions on nursing students?

    Thank you so much :)
  6. Opinions on nursing students?

I honestly think it depends on the nurse and the type of person she/he is. I've met nurses who see students as simply students, who need guidance and are more than happy to provide it for them. But I've seen nurses that think of them as idiots due to...
  7. Fitness To Work?

That's ridiculous. But I suppose it would benefit you more than anybody. If you're injured on the job, you can refer back to your medical assessment and argue against the company. It's a good back up and worth the money. I've seen this happen in ma...
  8. Slander by a student. What would you (or your school) do?

There was a similar issue at my school regarding slandering a professor. A few students would post on social media bad things about a professor and make fun of him/her throughout the semester. I won't say the details, but the professor's child was p...
  9. Why can't we all just get along?

I agree with you, it might definitely matter in your area. Especially if you're from the U.S. However, in the grad schools here, you only need a 70 avg to be considered. If you have 80, you're golden. Even the most competitive grad school, which is ...
  10. Why can't we all just get along?

If it helps you sleep at night, that's fine with me
  11. Why can't we all just get along?

I've made many great friendships in nursing and was voted as representative. I do not think I talk inappropriately at all on this site, and simply voice my opinion. You can choose to ignore my posts or perhaps get off the internet if you're offended,...
  12. Struggling with an unmotivated clinical group

Yes, in fourth year we work full time during the school year. I am happy for the experience, but they treat this placement as a "class." We are not supervised 99% of the time unless we are giving medications, which is 3 times a semester if we're luck...
  13. Job Offer in Home Health

I'm in Canada. Over here, the salaries are lower than the hospital by an average of $10 an hour. At least in my province. I believe because this business is still growing. I run a non-medical home care agency, and have talked with many other agencies...
  14. Struggling with an unmotivated clinical group

If you actually read my comments, we work 8-12 hours a week during the school year. In the summer, we work FULL-TIME, 8-12 hours a day, for a full month. How would you like to pay somebody $1600 a year to do that, and work for free, for four years? A...
  15. Struggling with an unmotivated clinical group

It is a Canadian thing. I don't know about the U.S., but I speak from a Canadian perspective and believe me, we ARE workers from the LITERAL definition of worker, which is, "a person or animal that works, in particular." If you mean employee, then t...
  16. Why can't we all just get along?

I've never really thought of it from that point of view... Thank you for your insight!
  17. What offends you (nursing related)?

I have already received a grant and my master business license for this company. I already technically own the agency, but am not accepting clients until June 2016. I have the website, brochures, business cards, an office, and many other things compl...
  18. Opinions on nursing students?

This will definitely be more constructive than the posts I've been getting Thank you so much! I will definitely check it out! :)
  19. Struggling with an unmotivated clinical group

No. It's not your responsibility. But it'd be a nice thing to do to lift students up by letting them know what they did right. Again, positive reinforcement brings about positive actions. These lazy, unmotivated people WILL most likely pass, because ...
  20. Job Offer in Home Health

I currently own a home care agency, and have done quite a bit of research on this topic. It is generally lower pay when compared to the hospital, and you'll have to do a lot of driving around. But you will see so many different types of patients work...
  21. Making the Dean's list

Who needs Dean's list when you have a transcript with a 3.4 avg? It's very simple. Whenever somebody else asks you if you're on the list, just shove your handy transcript in their face and whisper sweetly, "Your grades will get you nowhere in the rea...
  22. work and school at the same time...

I worked 40 hours a week in my first year of full-time nursing. I worked weekends, my one weekday off, and after school. I achieved straight As. If you really want it, like I did, then you can do it. "Those who say they can and those who say they can...
  23. Tardiness

There was a time when everybody in my group was late to clinical, that included the clinical instructor. My friend and I made it on time because we left two hours early since we had something else to do beforehand. There was an incident in my city wh...
  24. Struggling with an unmotivated clinical group

Since when was this about me? I get straight As, received compliments from every clinical instructor I've been with because I do things right, and run my own home care agency while in school. Don't bring me into this, you don't know me. And I believe...
  25. Struggling with an unmotivated clinical group

I don't know where you went to school, but where I am, students WORK in clinical placements, for FREE. Actually, I pay the school $800 a semester to work. I don't know what your definition of "worker" is. And you're absolutely right, students have to...
