I was born with a sacrococcygeal teratoma. It was diagnosed during one of my mom's early ultrasounds, and the prognosis was grim. At that time they didn't have any information to offer my parents, other than the name of my tumor. By the grace of God, I had the tumor successfully removed at one day old after having been born 8 weeks early (and I needed NO oxygen or ventilatory support! Whaaaat?) I was at the hospital a lot as a child because of the tumor, and I will never forget the impact the nurses had on my life while I was growing up. I started heavily focusing on nursing when I was in high school and maintained that focus in college. I'm a recent graduate of a BSN program at Cumberland University in Tennessee, and I'm a new resident of Seattle, WA! I'm ready to kick my career in high gear!
